doubt on tool setter wiring

Category: Advanced Configuration

Folks,
Can anyone confirm that the final diagram is correct for this tool setter?

I'm under the assumption that a resistor is not needed for the Mesa 7i76E?

Regards

Alternates for Debian

It appears you guys may have settled on Gentoo, but I've been using LinuxMint without major issues for quite a while now inspired by forum.linuxcnc.org/9-installing-linuxcnc...-nearly-easy-install this post. I have some 2017ish Dell Optiplex and a Mesa 7i76e and with all other factors the same (even the same kernel), I got better jitter and faster boots (~5-10s) with LinuxMint vs with Debian (took ~60s to boot). And this is with running the Plasma interface on Mint (I figured with the better jitter I could afford to run it).

I had used the install script from Joco github.com/joco-nz/lcnc-bullseye-installer with some modifications to package names so that it would function properly with the slightly different naming convention from the Mint repos.

electronic gearbox with 7i76E

@fons,
You just posted again the same question with the same subject, this is the second warning.
The other topic deleted, again.

As for your question, it is to convoluted, try drawing a diagram, or take some pictures, or try explaining thing line by line as they are supposed to happen.

shaft enconder on the wheel of the traktor one pulse each cm and on the seed injektor i have 60 pulse for each seed
the problem is every 10 cm i like to shoot 1 seed so for every 1 puls of the traktor the motor of the seedinjektor had to turn 60 pulses

All we can understand from that is one seed must go after 60 pulses, that should be 10 cm but you say 1 pulse for 1cm, so that does not add up.

hm2_pci: rtapi_app_main: No such device (-19)
./SiegX3.hal:10: waitpid failed /usr/bin/rtapi_app hm2_pci
./SiegX3.hal:10: /usr/bin/rtapi_app exited without becoming ready
./SiegX3.hal:10: insmod for hm2_pci failed, returned -1

In the loadrt lines you still have hm2_pci, it should be hm2_eth

Thanks Tommy,
I knew it was going to be something like that.  I also changed all of the references to 5i25 to 7i76e

Servo enable signal

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

HiI am in the process of upgrading my CNC table to Clearpath Servos I am  using a Mesa 7I76E board with Linuxcnc software for the controller.  The board shows connecters for each axis outputs with the pins labeled.  Each connecter has ground and +5 volt pins which I assume is for the enable for the axis servo signal. The question I have is the enable signal remove when the power button on the screen off/out.Or is there another signal used to enable/dis-able the servos Thanks for your timeTom

7i95T errors with Mesa Configuration Tool v2.0.1

Category: Driver Boards

Now LCNC recognize the board, I used PnCConf tool to setup 7i76e board with my joint parameters, then manually replaced all 7i76e with 7i95 in hal.
It works fine and stepper responds correctly.
With some tuning I guess basic motions will be restored.
Next goal is to control VFD using RS485.

This is where I am at. When I try to start LCNC from the command line it just exits. Any ideas

I tried this:
john@X3CNC:~$ mesaflash --device 7i76e --readhmid
No 7I76E board found
john@X3CNC:~$

I found this in the report file:

Debug file information:

hm2_pci: rtapi_app_main: No such device (-19)

have you checked this pin in the 'halshow' tool to see if you can toggle the state using your external hardware?

Is linuxCNC running?
If not, halcmd will show no hal pins, parameters etc

Yes,  I had tried it both ways.  I just tried it again a few times and I did see the pins show up once, but I am getting real-time excursions.  After that happens, no pins.   I had run the latency test on this PC with the 7i76 connected while it was on the bench and I got acceptable times.  Now that it is in the machine I also have a 7i83 connected.  Looks like I need to focus on the real-time excursions.

Thanks
John

Problem moving from a 5i25+7I76 to a 7i76E.

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

In addition to 5i25+7I76 to a 7i76E I am also moving from  a J1800 MB to a ODroid H2+.
24V to TB1 pins 3 & 7 and TB3 pins 21 & 22 .  Each pair Positive, Negative respectively.
I can Ping the IP 10.10.10.10.
I have 3 LEDS that are on. one green CR5, and  two yellow CR8, CR13.

Problem: When I run  "halcmd show all hm2" it shows no pins at all, just what is shown at the bottom of this post.

When moving from the 7i76 to the 7i76E just pulled the terminal strips off and moved them to the new board.

I believe I have the jumpers set correctly.

7i76E and 7i96S are FPGA boards, 7i84 is a smart serial (remote) board.
7i84 can be used with both, but not at the same time.
No need for any other card.

Mesa 7i96S and 7i76E dealer in india

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Mesa ship internationally so you should be able to purchase from their site. If you have questions about which hardware to order, ask in the driver boards section here and PCW, the owner of Mesa will surely respond.
