Note that for hardware step/dir systems (like Mesa)
no base thread is needed so you will get better data
by testing the servo thread latency only, like

latency-test 1ms 1ms
or
latency-histogram --nobase --sbinsize 500

The latency you show is fine for a Mesa card. As PCW said, its probably a bit overstated with the base thread in there.
