My experience with CO2 laser tube from china is bad, i brought 3 time 100W tube, quality control is very low, after few moths of use they had leakage. Now i buy in Japan, expensive but no problem at the end become cheap.
Be careful dude, the cheap maybe give to you headache

sure i know this,, JPT is well known in marking laser also the provide overseas support,,, but i buy it coz its 40% less weight and cheaper
also the core size for fiber can be customized ( bigger fiber core better for cutting in thick material,,, but not as good as small core for highly reflective material

btw there is another laser brands and cheap but no history no support they have
reci now making fiber laser too, but i cant trust it,,,

i will add the scale calculation and offset in GUI,,

1st test ss 0.9mm speed was 16m/min
after tweak gas and focus i reached 25m/min

alot of tweaks to LCNC i think it need completely new GUI..
on laser control there if power and frequency
power can be 0-10
freq 50KHZ same as modulation frequency lower freq @ pircering and higher @ cutting

Very nice work. I will buy a laser source in a couple of years and build my own like yours.

the main diffrance between laser and plasma is as follow

laser have PWM on 24v for modulating of the laser
0-10 v to set the power
enable / disable for shutter

gas control also another story
there is pricing gas pressure and cutting gas pressure
this is connect to 0-10v --- to SMC propotional regulator this is for o2 only
for n2 only on and off valve and same to air..

i make qtpyvcp using serial comm to laser source source,, but u still need PWM pin

capacitance sensor i make already..

if anyone have an idea about any one of those and how to make it the correct way let me know

so there is pircing and cutting each one need the follow
freq 0-20khz depent on ur laser
power 10 -100
gas type N2 O2 Air
gas pressure in psi
foucs setting <--- this is only important when u cut thick metal

i have chinese cutting system... but its very weak compare to linuxcnc,., no way to compare

PWM is quite easy to do with discrete elements, 2 transistors and some resistors.
Or there are cheap modules that do that:

7i7e i think it should work without the need for the converter

hey taloot.

I am also interested in making a laser cutter.

did you end up getting plasmac going ok for laser cutters.

6k sounds like a pretty good price for a laser cutting head. and the mechanical machine would be easy as to make. it is just the laser beam controlling that is hard I think. and I would be very interested in seeing what you have gotten up to with that. in a few years I think I might try build one of these

regards

Andrew
