h2m_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.input-07 was already linked to signal probe in. Now what am I doing wrong this time?

Somewhere in the hal file that pin is linked to something twice, so you need to remove one of them.
Most probably probe-in and float switch that was added after ruining the configurator, so if you do have probe0in in hal, delete that line or just omit it by putting # in front of that line.

If I do a quick search of the file for "hm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.input-07" only 1 result comes up in the the phill hal file I used to replace my machine hal file with.

I assume I was supposed to replace the files I created with configurator with the files provided by phill in his most recent post.

The only edits I've done since replacing the existing 2 files were to replace the obviously erroneous "h2m" with "hm2" and to change the scales from -1 to +1.

Are you also using the "new2.hal" file ? It is there, that should be removed.

I don't know what you're asking...I guess my answer is that I deleted the contents from my two machine folders and replaced them with the content given by phill. Whatever he gave me is now on my machine.

You can find them in phill's most recent post ...he provided the files which I copied and pasted into my machine.

Right but you said you made changes, and Phill’s had “your pin here” that surely you changed.

Help me (us) help you.

1. Took phill's unedited code
2. replaced the content in the existing 2 files in my machine folder (which were generated by plasmac config) with phill's codes
3. after got errors, resolved the first error by editing the erroneous "h2m" with "hm2"
4. next error resolved i edited the encoder scales from -1 (as phill put in the file he posted) to +1 as tommylight said.
5. No other changes have occured.

Phill's files, one of them is named "new2.hal", in the contents of that file is the line to be deleted, so wherever you copied the contents of that file, there look for it.
Or open the files one by one and just search for "probe-in" and delete or omit that line, save and test.

I'll give it a shot but can't help but wonder why these files need to be hand edited to get a working plasma. Isn't that the point of the configurator? I never imagined I would be 4 days chasing this down and still not over the hurdle.
