OK, I have noticed a few things that I think you should change in the ini file.

[DISPLAY] section
From:
POSITION_OFFSET = MACHINE
To:
POSITION_OFFSET = RELATIVE

[AXIS_Z] section
From:
MAX_VELOCITY = 30
MAX_ACCELERATION = 750
To:
MAX_VELOCITY = 60
MAX_ACCELERATION = 1500

You also have in the [AXIS_Z] section:
MIN_LIMIT = 5.0
MAX_LIMIT = 90.0
and in the [JOINT_2] section:
MIN_LIMIT = -0.0
MAX_LIMIT = 90.0
These should be the same.

In the Config Panel you have:
Probe Height 85
That is way too high, it is measured from the [AXIS_Z]MIN_LIMIT which in your case is 5.0, this will send your Z axis up to the top limit (90) to begin a probe.

I would suggest that you set up your Z axis by following this: linuxcnc.org/docs/2.8/html/plasma/plasma....html#_initial_setup

EDIT:
You probably should also increase your Setup Speed in the Config Panel to as high as possible as you really want the machine to move from Pierce Height to Cut Height as quickly as it can.

Ahhh very nice and tnx a lot !!!!

I'll try that when i have time after work, maybe tomorrow
I never realized i had a difference in Joint values on the Z axis

And i think i changed the acceleration and velocity as sometimes the Z stepper was "chirping " if the accel was too fast, it's a small nema17 running a 15mm OD ball screw, it's all on bearings so it should have minimal efforts but still happens.

For a while i thought this thread was side-tracked :)

BTW what difference does make the POSITION_OFFSET from MACHINE to RELATIVE ?

In RELATIVE mode the DROs in the Preview will show the coordinates that you are using which is normally G54 so when you touchoff an axis to zero on a part then the DROs show the position from touchoff zero. You can then see the relationship of the DROs to the material.

In MACHINE mode the DROs show the G53 machine coordinates.

The DRO showed on the PLAMAC screen has 2 sets if i remember correctly, one is abslolute (MACHINE ?) and the other lines are the RELATIVE values after a touch off. Am i correct ?

If you have View >> Show Offsets selected.

You can have it how you like, I don't like to see the offsets on the preview screen, just the x, y, z and Velocity.

Then I don't understand how the IHS skip option works, because in the plasma guide there is no explanation about it. So I suggested, that if the IHS skip is active, it shouldn't search metal sheet and assume that it's the same height like it was at the end of the cut(or at the beginning of the cut when thc is off) thus I shouldn’t activate float switch. But it seems, I am terribly wrong

I've never used it but I think:
If you set a 50mm radius, and you need to start another cut within 50mm it won't probe again. I think also its assumed that the THC keeps it to correct height so if you start again within 50mm of the end of cut is won't probe either.

I've left it like that as i sometimes cut some square 50mm tube on the table, if set lower it does not probe the tube.
Maybe i should change it only when needed ?
