hi. after running pncconf wizard, I cannot load linuxcnc because of error below, i was trying to setup sn04-p2 type proximity sensors on tb6 pins 0,1,2 and probe and estop on 4,5. Any ideas to resolve please? (note, im new to mesa and linuxcnc) thanks

Debug file information:
Note: Using POSIX realtime
./3020f.hal:31: Pin 'hm2_7i76e.0.7i76.0.0.input-00' does not exist

Normally, you anyway don't want the program or MDI command to stop because you accidentally jog, so I figured this is a good choice, even if it would switch to manual. Which it doesn't do anyway, at least in my case.

I did not read the whole thread in detail. But it seams you have issues with libusb_submit_transfer() and the assert afterwards? According to the manual, this function is allowed to return disconnected: manpages.debian.org/unstable/libusb2-dev/libusb.3.en.html
This should be fine, we should handle the error, cleanup properly and try to reconnect. Worst case, you have to do is disconnect the dongle and reconnect it again. I can look into that.

Meanwhile, do you have a way to reliably get the device to disconnect? Otherwise, it is always hard to see if a fix is really a fix or just the device behaving nicely for a few hours and then failing again.

@Hakan: I see you have Debian 12 (So libusb 2:1.0.26-1 I guess, libusb-1.0 is the package name, not the exact version). Did you try Debian 13?
@Finngineering:
Which Debian version do you have? Kernel version? Libusb version?
I have Debian 13 stock, libusb 2:1.0.28-1

Andy,
Thanks for the suggestion, but all the workspaces are devoid of icons.

My post was only to alert the RPi developers in case there is something deeper going on.

I plan to re-install LC 2.9.4 from my back-up to see if that cures the problem.
Then, perhaps, try LC 2.9.8.

Thanks
John.

Xilinx Webpack 14.7 runs fine on current Linux versions, no need to bother with Windows at all...

Thank you for help. Everything works just fine. Xilinx was a bit tricky to download due to american regulations and policies. Somehow registration form doesn`t work correct. But finally I downloaded it today so this is first and last case.

Talking about original mesa cards, in my country it is almost impossible to get desired board on time. They simply out of stock. So I had to save 15$... I`m sorry.

Xilinx itself appeared an old nightmare for me to install. Heavy virtual machine, only Win7 32bit and 30-year old interface... I would not recommend customizing chineese boards after this experience.

P.S.: hope people who don`t help use Windows

Looking for a lathe encoder hal for for threading and rpm. the files I find say to use the index pin however its not an option for the el5101

I tried riocore with a Tang nano 9k last year, when I first read about it. I loved the idea and I think you have done a fantastic job so far.
So a big thank you, although I have not done anything productive with LinunxCNC and riocore yet, mainly because I already have some Mesa cards that I use in my machines and not the time that I would like to have to start experimenting with a fun project with riocore. I love the idea that for simple projects I could potentially use riocore with a cheap FPGA board though, so hopefully I'll do this in the near future!

I have a project in mind right now though, that would ideally use a microcontroller for sending commands to the FPGA for driving two motors and I would like to know if I could potentially connect an ESP32-S3 or ESP32-P4 that I already have. I'm only familiar with Arduino framework so far and I tried to dive further in ESP-IDF in the past but that was more hard for my current experience. Do you think it would be possible and fairly simple to communicate an ESP32 board with the Tang nano over SPI, like your LinuxCNC driver does?
