but were is rpi 3 and 4 linuxcnc os.

It appears to work fine. Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

And here is the Snippet:
# --- SPINDLE PWM CONFIGURATION ---

# Load and Add Functions
# (Ensure loadrt pwmgen and loadrt scale are at the top of your file)
addf pwmgen.make-pulses base-thread
addf pwmgen.update servo-thread

# 3. Connect Spindle Enable
# This turns the PWM generator on only when the spindle is active and needs to be eliminated.
# (removed) net spindle-on spindle.0.on => pwmgen.0.enable

#Inverted Voltage Corrections
# First you need to add the next two lines above
# loadrt not count=1
# addf not.0 servo-thread

# set the Frequency
# first we need to set a frequency for the PWM in order for it to smooth the output
setp pwmgen.0.pwm-freq 100.0

# Calibration
# When using a 0-10v output signal, you may need to invert the PWM output
# so that the 5 axis breakout board will output 0V at spindle off,and
# 10v when the spindle is full on. The Negative sign before the 60000 usually does this.
# unfortunately the resting (spindle off) voltage is 10.0V - bad -very bad!
# rather we leave everything alone and creat a not.0 variable that reverses the values
setp pwmgen.0.scale 60000
setp pwmgen.0.offset 0.0
setp pwmgen.0.enable 1

# Connect Spindle Speed Command
# This signal carries the RPM requested by G-code (S command)
net spindle-speed-cmd spindle.0.speed-out => pwmgen.0.value

# Prepare to invert it
net spindle-pwm-raw pwmgen.0.pwm => not.0.in

# Connect and invert the PWM Output to Physical GPIO
# This is the "Writer" for GPIO18
net spindle-pwm-final not.0.out => hal_gpio.GPIO18-out

#End Spindle Code

I wanted to create a control voltage for my spindle using a Raspberry Pi 5 connected to a Byte2Bot parallel daughter board (Misnomer Alert – it is actually a DB25 daughterboard and has little to do with a parallel port) connected to a parallel port breakout board provided by Byte2Bot.  The parallel port breakout board has a terminal for PWM that will produce a voltage. The question is how to do it. Here is what I discovered:

Yes, the sserial pinouts on the 7I85 and 7I96S are similar except the 7I85 uses 8 pins and the 7I96S uses 6
You can plug a 6 pin sserial connector into the 7I85 if you center it, that is with  a 1 pin gap in each side.
The 8 pin connection uses duplicated power and ground pins. On the 6 pin connector, you must terminate
2 wires in the single power and ground pins.

I would use all 5V signals for the step motor drive interface
and possibly 24V for limit switches .

thank you for reply

Hi,
Please let me know if spindle is stillavailable?

Criistian

That report lists 4 PPMC boards at "slots" 0, 1, 2 and 3. That is pretty odd. Are you sure this machine has a PWM controller? Are you sure the parallel port is set up correctly? Did the CMOS battery go dead? If so, the BIOS settings for the parallel port would have gotten lost. Make sure the BIOS peripheral settings for the parallel port are set to EPP mode.
Those are the first things that come to mind.
Report back if these hints don't fix it.
Jon

I will not use DC yet as it sounds too complicated at this stage
I setup a Linuxcnc on my personal server. Everything is recognized but the counter is not working.
Its in PRE OP, maybe this is the issue

Hi,
this looks really cool, thanks for sharing! I’ll definitely be testing it once my lathe is ready.

I really like the idea of solid onboard solutions. If this works well, you could do around 90% of lathe parts without external CAM, which would be a real improvement.

It reminds me a bit of Native CAM. Do you know it?
If so, I’d be interested in what made you decide to develop a completely new macro. From my point of view, Native CAM on the turning side is mainly missing proper G71 support and a polyline tool (which already exists in Native CAM Mill).

This is not meant as criticism, I generally find new developments very exciting. I’m not a programmer myself and can’t really judge the effort involved, which is why I’m asking.

Either way, very promising project. Looking forward to seeing how it develops

Sorry to bring the topic up, im trying to figure out what is wrong with my Probing in PROBE BASIC.

The Carousel, tool changing, homing, spindle S line, everything is good. Im running Ethercat XYY and Mesa Z and Carousel simultaneously. All good.
The problem is in the Tool Touch Off Macro, and defining my part coordinates.

- When i touch off my tools, the tool lenght which gets written on the table is very weird - not consistent with the tools im measuring.

- My probe is not on the part itself, but on a specific place on the table. So, after 'zeroing' the tools, i should also zero the part.

As the tool touch off macro is giving inconsistent values, currently I am placing the tool at almost touching the part, and hitting "Zero Z", and changing every tool with MDI codes M6 T(Tn) G43 H(Tn). Placing the tool at the top of the stock surface and hitting "zero Z" is the correct procedure , if im measuring the tools correctly?

Any ideas as to why are tool lengths being inconsistent?

My Spindle nose doesn't reach the probe - due to machine mechanical limitations. I can only touch it if i have a cone + tool. is this OK?

I think you know this already, but you have the output of "sudo dmesg" with the last lines being relevant.

In this case, do the following commands work "ethercat -p 0 upload 0x2701 2" and "ethercat -p 0 download 0x2701 2 1"?
You are aware that bytes in sdoDataRaw are LSBF so your number "00 00 00 40" is 67108864?

I'm trying to use Yaskawa sigma servo(EtherCAT) for LinuxCNC.

But my trial does not work.
I get Alarm A12 (EtherCAT Output Syncronization Error)

Does anyone know good example master settings ?
