This can be a terrible idea on some lathes. Some older lathes have screw-down bearing caps holding the spindle. They are not designed to lift the whole lathe.

The manual for my lathe has clear instructions how to lift it. I would imagine that most do.

(In the case of the Holbrook Minor it is two plates top and bottom of the bed near the headstock and an eye bolt.)

You can trim the balance by moving the carriage.

Boy does time fly. I ended up having to use the lathe in it's original form to rebuild the Z axis on the cnc router
at work . Why the manufacture decided to use the bearings in the Z axis stepper motor to control the thrust load
is beyond me. Funny they put them in the X and Y axis. I fortunately got the Z axis finished today.
Now the Z axis has it's own dedicated thrust bearings
At the same time I had to upgrade and upsize my anodizing line.
I took a different approach to the lifting and moving problem on the lathe . I made a T-bar to hook to the lathe
and WOW does it make moving it around much easier. I will be getting back to CNCing the lathe in a few weeks
I have to finish up a few things on the anodizing line first.

My comment on the bearing thing: :S
Nice to have you back.

I might have some questions about anodising eventually, god only knows when. :)

Thanks tommylight . I will be doing more video's on my Youtube channel about the anodizing this year.
Feel free to check it out , maybe it will answer some of the questions you already have . And if it doesn't
I will do my best to answer them.
I have a video on water quality and filters coming soon.
this is my first video on that subject, granted it was a few years ago and much has changed since then.

Nice ! :)
I still have not gotten to that point, also got sidetracked with 2 (and another next week) 3D printers due to a f@#$ up from someone at a local online retailer as i got delivery of a Creality CR-10 MAX for 245.5 Euro delivered to my door! :) :) :)
The first one i got for 446.99 E, the Ender 5 Plus, so last night i also ordered a CR-X PRO for 267E or thereabouts ! :)
BTW, where are the pictures of the anodised stuff ???
