Hi
Have you read psha.org.ru/b/camview-emc.html ?
Also are you using 10.04 or 8.04, camunits does not work with 8.04.

one thing i am not 100% sure if i installed correctly is the debian repository, what i did is:
open system>administration>software sources
select the other software tab
pressed add... and wrote down "deb psha.org.ru/debian/ lucid contrib"
then i ran these commands in the terminal
wget -O- psha.org.ru/debian/pubkey.gpg | sudo apt-key add -
pt-get update
everything seemed to have worked fine however i am not sure if the above was the correct way to do it

thanks but didnt find anything - i still have that page open, the only vertical thing he mentions is:
convert.flip: Flip image in horozontal or/and vertical direction. Not very useful for V4L2 cameras since there is one in libv4l2. Vertical flip is very efficient and horizontal is pretty fast on RGB, BGR, … images with 24 bits per pixel. Horizontal flip is slow on Gray images (with 8 bpp).
haven't stop trying stuff cant get it to work

Its under the troubleshooting section, talks about trying vivi driver and mentions blank black screen( opengl) and vertical lines or stripes and their significance.
Frustratingly I cannot get the page up.
I had problems getting camview to work under 8.04, had to load the vesa driver and the software GL libraries, whereas it worked out of the box on 10.04.

I tried loading the vesa drivers but didnt work.
yeah i tried loading the vivi drivers and the vivi image shows (different coloured vertical stripes sample image),however the image is different from that viewed in cheese.
when I loaded the vivi driver with cheese, the image was still with coloured vertical stripes but less stripes and a timer runniing which didn't show on camview.
also.. i tought that i installed vesa driver but in fact I had installed Installing Software-based OpenGL, i will try loading vesa drivers according to wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?TroubleShooting
cant attach screenshot dont know why

also -- i found this: groups.google.com/group/camunits/browse_...ead/81031fa36ed8d263
which seems to be exactly what my problem is, he also mentions the 2000x2000 resolution which can be seen in this picture

finally problem solved, managed to contact psha through irc and he was extremly helpful and solved my problem
the problem was that I installed camview with wget camunits.googlecode.com/files/camunits-x.y.z.tar.gz
when i should have just done apt-get install camview after adding repo as explained in wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Axis_Embed_Video
i deleted camview files from /usr/local/lib/ and everything worked fine:)
(i still had camview installed in /user/local)
thanks again psha !!!
--hope that the rest of the process of integrating camview with linuxcnc wont be that much of a pain
