Here is another problem:
I am trying to follow WIKI instructions and can't see any video if togle-caa.ui is included
EMBED_TAB_COMMAND = camview-emc -C camviewcfg -g togle-caa.ui -H campins.hal -w {XID}
I guess I am missing something again.
so far:
- Modified INI file to add [HALUI] section
- copied togle-caa.ui and campins.hal to config folder (from zip)
- copied nc programs to the folder defined in PROGRAM_PREFIX
Am I missing something?
Also WIKI shows DRAW halread that I don't have in camview...

DRAW halread is old name of plugin. Now it's 'Read/write data to HAL pins' (emc.halio, in EMC section).
It's living in 'camunits-plugins-emc' package and not installed by default.
Also if you need panel in camview then you have to use EMC 2.5. GladeVcp was added only recently and not in 2.4

just wanted to say thanks for this,
all worked pretty much out of the box with a microsoft lifecam, even had the knobs for focus and zoom to twiddle.
Only issue I'm having is it defaults to a RGB input from the camera and that is using 100% of the CPU (its only an atom) even though the config file seems to be indicating a different format, (YUV, drops consumption to around 20-30%).
All the other parts of the chain are saved and working fine it just seems to not load the input resolution and format from the file.
Any suggestions?

I've added -f (--video-format) option to choose format you want. Note that it's simple substring matching.
I hope new packages (0.0.36) will land shortly in my repo. Or you may grab sources from git

Running the webcam tab gives me "Unexpected Realtime Delay" on my otherwise well-behaved system. Perhaps I will try fiddling with the options.

Thanks for the change, works well, reduces cpu use from 100% to 40% or so on the dual core atom.
one further feature request, perhaps have it turn the camera off when the tab is hidden?
(i was thinking lost focus would be enough but that may get confusing)
I'm trying to get the HAL integration running now but I'm having some difficulties
pastebin.ca/2056568 is the result of running emc in a terminal window
I think these chunks are pertanent
I think perhaps its looking for axis.0.motor-pos-fb ?
alsoI believe this comes up when i click the camview tab
Any suggestions?
This is all running EMC2 - 2.6.0-pre0-297-gdc93387

Setting up pins for [(null)]
getting parameter 'halui.axis.0.pos-feedback'
Getting mutex 0xb75ba000
Got mutex
Got pin halui.axis.0.pos-feedback: (nil)
Release mutex
Released
parameter 'halui.axis.0.pos-feedback' not found
Axis 0: (nil)
also
campins.hal:10: Pin 'camview.hal_checkbutton1' does not exist
Any suggestions?

Can anyone tell my why I don't see the DRO in the camera window? Everything else works perfect except this.
Do I need to simply switch something on?
Thanks.

Probably you have not installed package with halio plugin (camunits-plugins-emc)?

...not perfect. The DRO values are not correct. When jogging the machine, they jump wildly. Like, the numbers will go from values like 98723463554263475829+834757439285 to -98723463554263475829+834757439285 in an instant. Any thoughts?
-Howard.
