Thanks! But can we *please* get back to the ballscrews soon?
I'm curious about what's wrong with them, making them so hard to turn. I hope it's just some gunked up fat and not any serious damage.
In all seriousness: it's interesting to see also how you handle moving the machines around - a crowbar, blocks of wood and a pallet jack seems to go a long way! Just after you got the lathe through the door you did some manouvering that made me think "he's done that before!". Just before you told us about towing 180 ton airplanes on ice .

Yeah, I still need to pull the Z ball screw, and them strip, clean and relube them.
That move went better than I feared.

With a long crowbar you can "walk" things sideways.
Using CNC nomenclature: insert the bar at C = -90, raise machine by Z -N, move bar to C+90, Z = 0 and repeat.
This is a beast for that sort of thing if you are in the UK www.screwfix.com/p/roughneck-gorilla-wrecking-bar-48/29330
(I wonder if it their best-rated tool?)

So use the crowbar heel as a pivot point?

That blue crowbar I bought is similar. I brought the Boley and DoAll in with just an even smaller crow bar and rollers. The pallet jack sure makes it easier and faster.
