Lovely bit of machining Andy. I sent you an email.

Lorenz, do think your Schaublin has been repainted, or is that original paint? If that is original paint, it appears to have done even less work than mine.

I have a scan of Schaublin manual data which is circulated on the german forums. I wonder if you have something which we dont already have?
Mark.

All the sheetmetal parts were definitely repainted some time. They are painted yellow, but you can see the original green color in some spots.
I was unable to find some green paint on the casting yesterday. Going to take a better look today.
Even though the paint looks good, the spindle nose and the machine ways are looking a bit more used than yours.
I could post some more pictures here, if people are interested.

The yellow color is quite ugly. Definitely going to sandblast an paint them :)
Can’t find any green ore blue on the machine.
But the bad job in the middle of the bedways doesn’t look original.
But still couldn’t find any pictures of schaublins with white „lower“ casting.

All parts are coated in grease and dust.
The ways aren’t in great condition, but of rust and a few scratches. Still good enough for me I think :cheer:
The spindle nose looks pretty good and the runout is 0 measured with an 1/100 mm indicator.
Need to get one with 1/1000 resolution :)

I have the manuals for machine number 10, 24 and 185.

In the 185 there are some informations about the schaublin treading-tool holder, SINUS-clutch and an Warner Electric Elektromagnetic brake. Also the blueprints are much nicer and bigger. Took a photo of the spindle assembly.
Don‘t know if this might be useful vor someone.
:cheer:

Spindle design is always interesting. :)

That slot in the bottom of the front retaining plate, is that a drain for the labyrinth seal? I already noticed it in RotarySMP's videos ("How would YOU lube it?" and "Installing the Schaublin spindle") and wondered about it.

Did you ever decide what you were going to do about the servos? I found this article for converting a synchro signal to a resolver signal. could be useful.
