I have a question with respect to wiring pass through encoder signals to the 7i85.
The JMC driver outputs the differential signals from the motor encoder :
... and I would like to pass that signal through to LinuxCNC on the 7i85:
I am a little uncertain of the GND signal on the JMC driver. As drawn that looks like it is just the cable shield earth. I take it the 7i85 needs the TB3-3 GND reference signal for the encoder right? I cant upload the full manual here, as it exceeds the forum limit.

No GND, just use + and - for each signal.
7i85 does have differential inputs, right?
Differential signal do not need GND, at least i never needed it.

Yep. Six conductors, plus a shield.
I believe the OCZ/GND connection is a bit of a red herring in your case. Pretty sure that's for a single-ended output; probably used for a home-to-index feature for a controller that can't take differential inputs.
On the other hand, I'm mildly curious what an electric angel is... Incremental encoder Z pulse electric

Thanks guys. I wasnt sure if the differential signals were each referenced to gnd or formed a circuit.
Yeah, that manual has some high grade Cringlish

That is how most Chinese engineers seem to draw ground shielded cables, not sure why, but they do it. So if you see that on Chinamart schematics, it's usually the outer woven ground shield jacket, then attached to ground. Sometimes they bundle a jacket on each twisted pair, sometimes not. Depends on what day of the week and which supplier had cables. Solar panel stuff is really wild at times !!!

That is the nice thing about standards, there are so many to choose between
