Thank you for all of your help so far. I am sure I will be a regular for a while. Having a non-standard config and being computer illiterate is going to be a challenge.

What version of EMC are you using?
If you are using EMC 2.5 then PNCconf should have got you closer then it sounds like you got.
It's a lot to learn all at once. But with knowledge comes power!
The people here are very good about trying to help - we have all been there !

Yes Version 2.5 but the rmsvss6_8.bit file that I need is not even a choice. I may be closer than I think but I would not know. LOL or maybe i am making all of the wrong choices. My plan was to get EMC to start up with my config, (which I can not seem to make happen yet) and then get the limit switches and e-stop working and maybe the hydraulics to fire up. At that point I would think I would have enough knowledge to start tackling the spindle and finally the servo's.

My latest attempt is better but I get
10cc.hal:97: parameter or pin 'hm2_5i23.0.resolver.00.counter-mode' not found
5148

10cc.hal:97: parameter or pin 'hm2_5i23.0.resolver.00.counter-mode' not found

That's easy, there is no such pin on resolvers... just delete any line setting "blah-blah-blah.counter-mode"

OK How do I know this? I will delete it because you told to to. LOL But is this HAL101 or is it 5i23 101? Another thing I have been trying to figure out is how do I see all the way through my configuration, meaning the pins on my input and output cards? Is there a command that show my configuration kind of like a directory tree? Sorry if the questions seem novice or clueless, but they are.

To explain how i got here I did use pncconf to make the file. With guidance I change anything that said encoder to say resolver but I am starting to understand that the pins needed are different. Are there any examples I can look at? I need to start understanding before you guy's lose patience with me.

Mainly man hostmot2 (under the resolver section)
I think the names are mostly identical t the corresponding encoder names
but as you found there are some pins the resolve module does not have that encoders do
(the reverse is also true but since you started with a HAL file built for encoders

If Peter can supply the PIN file then I could supply an XML file that PNCconf needs.
