Hi

For now i haven't connected the 7i83 i'm a little afraid but i think the good schematic is the first one for keep spindle controller isolation.

One more question about my driver AM882 and differential connection :
connecting Dir+ to card D+, Pull+ to S+ and Dir-/Pull- to gnd work fine
connecting Dir+ to D+ Dir- to D- and Pull+ to S+ Step- to S- does not work, is there something missing ?

Ps : Thanks a lot to eusurplus for very fast service !

#1 Never ground any Mesa card Step or Dir pins. This shorts out the driver and
will damage the card if done for an extended period of time

# 2 when driving in differential mode you have a bit higher series resistance
so on drives with very high current requirements you may need to run in
single ended mode

1 : I speak about Step- Dir- from Am882 driver connected to gnd from mesa card on the stepper connector, so i hope this is correct ?

2 : so i keep the wire to mesa "stepper gnd" and keep single end ? ( = Am882 not compliant with differential mode)

3 : please can you confirm for 7i83 wiring ?

Thanks a lot

Hi again.

I have Spindle drive connected like the schematics.

PID bypassed for test.
Spindle drive set to 10v for sig input.

I check voltage spindle stoped
Spindle en = 15v
Spindle +15 = 15v
Spindle sig = 0v

Try to start spindle and test rpm
Spindle en = 0.6v
Spindle +15 = 15v
Spindle sig change from 0 to +10 and from 0 to -10 correctly regarding to the rpm asked

But the spindle does not move
adding a switch directly from Spindle en to com change nothing

Test with original potentiometer work fine.

I don't understand it seem to be ok regarding to value but does not work ???

when spindle are activated field voltage move constantly from 12.2 to 14

At start :

Not sure but one guess is that the 7I83 draws too much power from the drives 15V and needs a separate floating supply
