If this was for me, please see that I made it in 2006. No CAM in that time.
I wrote a program that opens the dxf and retrieves lines and arcs. Then it groups lines and arcs that are connected to produce continuous parts. When the shape is disconnected it is another "part" that means that a new pierce occurs. Really simple and effective if the user uses correctly the CAD part.
I would be interested in looking at your QCad CAM configuration.

I'm *really* excited to see how this works~!!
Instead of re-drawing everything, I'm going to import a pre-existing image and see if it will properly render the code & drilling holes.
Have you tested this yet? Any word on what is needed for a "drilling point"? Just a dot/pixel? A small filled circle? (I intend to look over the manual but I have found that documentation has a tendency to fall short in complete explanation, and wanted to touch base here as well).

I've downloaded and installed 3.4.3.Just a note to anyone that might be following this thread QCad version 3.4.3 now exports points properly for drilling holes.

When you open QCad the upper left button with the 3 +'s on it is points. When you create a drawing with points and export the cam it will rapid to each point then feed down to Z cutting then rapid up to Z Clear then rapid over to the next hole. When you click on the hole the Draw Order in the Property Editor is the order that the holes will be drilled. If you have spindle control in LinuxCNC you will need to add the M3 Sn and M5 to turn the spindle on and off.
I need to try and add the spindle option to the mill configuration.

Okay, I've re-downloaded QCAD (two computers, a couple holidays and a bunch of other "real Life" situations later...)
and I have a question;
I have never done anything regarding a "Tool Table, "Tool set" or "Tool Offset". So, when I draw these objects in QCAD, do I need to increase the size of the object by the router bit? That is how I've always done it when doing the programming by hand.
I did not see anything in the QCAD help file when I looked.

I decided to scale the drawing.
I've drawn it out in QCad, and figured - why not increase the scale according to the difference of the router bit?
Example =
#1) The piece I am cutting is an "L" bracket that is 210mm long, and 30mm high.
#2) I will be using a 6.35mm diameter bit (.25" ).
#3) With a .25" bit, the dimensions should be 216.35mm (L) & 30.9mm, (H) right?
#4) The difference is 3%
#5) Ergo, I would 'Scale" the drawing by in incrementation of 3%. (1.03 in the scaling window). Right?
