I doubt anything has changed in the driver between 2.7 and 2.8
It may be more likely that there's a bug with the use_serial_numbers option
and more than 1 sserial port since this is uncommon setup (more than 8 channels total)

You might also try only enabling the sserial channels that you actually have connected
probably something like sserial_port_0=00x sserial_port_1=00xxxxxx

Just a remark, in your pictures i can see 7i77 and 7i70 are working properly but 7i74 has no green light on, i am sure on mine it is on full when active.
But 7i70 works through it, so..........

Yeah, I dont know why the green lite is not on on the 7i74,

Both are flashing on the 7i70 and 7i71 and 7i77 and I have all my pins.
I have seen the green lite on it though, but dont remember in what condition...lol

I tried disabling port 1 of the 5i25, and dropped port0 to just the channels used and still the same thing.

I'll see if there is an updated beta version.

I am on 2.8 pre. IS it broken in 2.8 pre?

Shouldn't be, I don't think anything has changed there.

Can I repeat my question, and hope for a different answer? Your error is with loadrt hm2_pci, the loadrt hostmot2 use_serial_numbers seems to have worked.

Sorry if I missed your question.

That is correct, with hostmot2 use_serial_numbers=1 loaded it dumps with the hm2_pci line.

loadrt hm2_pci config=" num_encoders=6 num_pwmgens=0 num_stepgens=0 sserial_port_0=000xxx sserial_port_1=00000000"

I tried with just one port and it failed with invalid parameters also.

Could be, I am pretty sure I didn't test that.

The simple answer for bevins is to just stop trying to use that option.

The more complicated answer for me is to try to fix that,

I think I would need a 5i24 config with a split 7i44 port to test with. But I guess that PCW is best placed to check if this is a real bug before making me a bitfile to fix it with.

I can not insist on it as i use diferent firmware, but i am sure mine has green and orange as soon as LCnC starts.
You should check that the d25 connectors are seated properly just in case.

The green light on a 7I74 is the serial channel 7 drive enable state

It will not be illuminated on a sserial config unless a remote device is found
on that channel (channel 7)

This is a consequence of the fact that sserial pins revert to GPIO
if a sserial device is not found (and the default state is driver disabled for RS-485 compatibility)
