Just so I understand how this setup will work, when I hit the E-stop button it will kill power to the drives, disable the drivers, and provide a fault signal that can be used in LinuxCNC?

From what I can tell, once the E-stop is reset the motor and drives will come back on. What about the fault in LCNC? Will I need to reset it on-screen before the machine can run? Would I be able to resume my job or would I have to start over?

No, it wi reset itself if it is wired to an input and in hal to estop-ext.
You can resume the job with "run from here", just beware it can not continue on arcs, only straight lines.

So I started laying things out and came up with a question. I plan to have 2 E-stops on the machine since it is kind of big. By looking at the diagram I am going to need to run both 120V and 24V cables to the E-stops and back to the cabinet?

I assume I can just daisy chain the buttons so I don't have to run separate lines?

Series the NC contacts. Parallel the NO contacts.
Any break in the NC string should kill the power to all drives and solenoids.
The NO string should be the input to the CNC control.

Its not well documented but if you don't want to run mains power all over the place, you can use the estop-latch component to build your estop chain in hal..

I guess I hadn't thought about it enough to realize I would need to run mains to all the E-stops. I may visit the E-stop Latch component down the road some. I finally got my head wrapped around (somewhat) the E-stop circuit. I can't afford to get tripped up for another couple weeks on this. Thanks for informing me though.

Just want to make sure I understood correctly. Is this the correct way to run multiple E-stops?
