scalemax 2000 puts out 0.248V
scalemax 5 puts out 4.36V after 1 push on + and from start 0.926V
So when you push clockwise spindle rotates slowly 1 + and it goes flat out.
None what soever reaction on S command.

It sounds like you have a 5V Vref?
Spindle speed starts at 1rpm and goes up in 100rpm increments for each push of the + button.
With a scalemax of 2000 you would expect a voltage of 0.25V per push of the + button. Which is what you have.
With a scalemax of 5 rpm (why?) Spindle-on gives 1 rpm = 1V. Press + for 100V and that is _lots_ more than your 5rpm maximum output, and so you get the full 5V.
So, I don't think anything is wrong at the LinuxCNC end.

"Spindle speed starts at 1rpm and goes up in 100rpm increments for each push of the + button."
That is not the case = starts at 1 and then 101 after 1 push on + but no more after that even if you push 5 times or more!
That is what puzzels us now also no S command reaction either none or flat out depending on scale factor.

It sounds like you have a 5V Vref? = YES and have been working OK with Mach3/Kflop/Kanalog combo.

That's odd. Which LinuxCNC version?
I don't even think that there is a speed limit configurable that might be wrong.
You are looking at the motion.spindle pins?

Haven't upgraded for a few days so it is still .10
Will go down to workshop and have a closer look at those pins.

Can this be an issue with 7i76e spindle output? I can easily change to 10V.

No, the 7I76E's spindle analog out works equally well from 5V to 15V
I suspect you have a simple HAL file wiring or INI file scale issue

Good to know that 5V is OK Peter.
Latest HAL and INI can be found a bit earlier in this thread. Hope you can sort this one out.
Cheers
