amd bochs drm_kms_helper.ko i2c mgag200 ttm vgem
ast cirrus drm.ko i915 radeon udl vmwgfx
i915 is now there.

My VM maxes out at 1176x885. Did you get open-vmtools to work?Also missing (and probably an annoyance only to me) was the VMWare support, which explains why the VM on my Mac has such low resolution.

I have open-vm tools installed, but the new kernel seems to have been the key.
I can now choose 2560x1440 which is a reasonable fit for the 27" Retina.
