Download install-linuxcnc-pkg.sh, qtvcp.sh and linuxcnc linuxcnc-dev linuxcnc-doc-en linuxcnc-doc-html deb files
The matching kernel files have been included in the folder, not needed for installs using the RTAI ISOs in this thread.
The kernel packages are only for those that know 100% what they doing and are not running that particular kernel.

Uninstall existing linuxcnc packages

sh install-linuxcnc-pkg.sh

To fix up and existing setup with qtvcp or to install qtvcp. If you haven't got qtvcp insatlled or don't want to install qtvcp do not run the next command:
sudo sh qtvcp.sh

In Linux dd is recommended.

Unlike other images I posted this has been created using a virgin install of Mint 19.2 on real hardware.
To apply updates to fresh install open a terminal and use the following, this should not upgrade the kernel.
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Many thanks to all who have downloaded, test, reported bugs and helped.

hi I tried the iso preempt-rt version and it works normally with latency of about 32000 + 32000. only problem is the slow start. more than a minute. with the standard kernel you don't wait about 20 seconds.
these are the data of the pc
regards
mauro

If you turn on the boot messages in grub you can see what takes the time. I often see a particular process (ethernet net connection?) waiting with a 1 minute timeout.

Ok from your attachment you are running the RTAI kernel, not the RT_PREEMPT.

I mentioned that issue here forum.linuxcnc.org/9-installing-linuxcnc...cnc?start=140#159389
And it should also be mentioned in the readme that can be opened via the shortcut on the desktop.

I've noticed that behaviour, it maybe an entropy issue, in one of the other release announcements, or maybe another thread I've talked about that behaviour and how to mitigate it. It is annoying but when testing on the machines I have available that particular kernel has the better overall latency.

I've booted up quite a few times and left various amounts of time before moving the mouse and the different lengths of time can be seen when running dmesg after login to the desktop.

The offending section can be seen here, the time from the wifi message to init done message can be shortened depending on when you start moving the mouse.
[ 6.682491] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlp3s0: link is not ready

Perfect I have just installed this Iso Image:
RT_PREEMPT drive.google.com/open?id=1I3C2zcFRlilkjQh1HKcAKKBQS1Z_5oOU

It installed fast and without any issues It also reboots quick. The best one yet :) Thanks for all the effort that has gone into this.
