How did you end up with 2.7 on Linux Mint?
Is it RTAI or Preempt-RT? Type "uname -a" in a terminal to check.
If Preempt:
Open "software sources" from the "administration" menu
itsfoss.com/how-to-remove-or-delete-ppas-quick-tip/
notice the repo it is using and remove the existing LinuxCNC entry, it should say Stretch and if it does do:
sudo apt-add-repository 'deb buildbot.linuxcnc.org/ stretch 2.8-rtpreempt'
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get -y install linuxcnc-uspace

Long time since I struggled to get my Touch screens to work, only way was to take the long road with LM and at that time 2.7.8 upgraded to 2.7.14.
Running 7i76e so it must be Preempt-RT
Whynot Buster?
So LCNC must be removed not upgraded?
My HOME needs to saved right?

Everything in Linux gets removed before upgrading, this is no windows/patch/over/patch/over/patch.....
forum.linuxcnc.org/9-installing-linuxcnc...nd-easy-installation
Takes anything from 5 to 30 minutes to a fully installed Linux Mint/Preempt/LinuxCNC, after downloading, so do not worry about it, just make sure to backup the config.

A bit confused...
Is this ONLY LCNC or do you want me to install LM 19.3 ?
!!! I do not want to have TOUCH screen issues.
Do you think Debian10 can handle my older Touch screens?
Lathe and Milling machine both have LM + touch working

I would/will buy (ca 20-30$) a ssd. Copy your hd and then try on that.
So you can easy see if your touch is supported or not.

My last post was to show that you do not have to worry as it is very easy to install it, the one before that was for upgrading.
The choice is yours.
On Mint most touch screens work, not so much on Debian.

You can test if the touch screen works from a live session on a USB, then install if it works.
