Glad to hear you are on the mend. Pneumonia is not something to take lightly.

Yeh, I am no stranger to it. This time was very unusual to have no lung/asthma symptoms. We think we got onto it very early as the initial blood tests did not show much infection and Yesterday's were worse as it ramped up. Hopefuly I go home today.

I've rebuiilt the installer for Linuxcnc 2.9.2 on Debian 12.4 (for x86)
I have asked for this image to be deployed on the linuxcnc downloads page as part of the 2.9.2 release. In the meantime you can get it from here
drive.google.com/file/d/1nw0dGt5aZXVo8k6...zAg/view?usp=sharing

This also gets rid of the spurious raspi-firmware installation which was tricky to resolve.

Note the README.md file in the user's home folder outlines how to use the ethercat and qtpyvcp repositories included in this ISO.

Hello,
Can i install version 2.9.2 on my old pc which only works in x86 mode?
I downloaded version 2.9.2, saved it to a flash drive with the "rufus" program, booting from the flash drive and after selecting "Graphic install" it says

"This kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU. Unable to boot - please use a kernel appropriate for your CPU."

With the same flash drive, on my other computer with an x86-64 processor, the installation completed successfully.

You may be able to install Debian Bookworm from a 32 bit image on their web site but getting Linuxcnc going may be an issu. Andy's script may work but honestly you should upgrade to 64 bit hardware.

To support 32 bit hardware the installer would need to be built on a 32 bit platform and thats not going to happen on 20 + year old hardware ( have not had a 386 PC for about that long for starters)

tommylight, rodw - thank you for your quick reply! I understand.

I asked because the thread title says "(x86 only)".
And my old processor works exactly in this mode.
I was wondering if I was doing something wrong in the installation steps - and to find out I decided to ask in the forum.

Probably should have been written as x86_64, but i never got a reply from Rod if it works as 64 bit or not.
Also there are several X86 versions, before PAE and after, but those are always 32 bit.
This is not our fault,it is absolutely Intel's fault on every level.
That is why all the 64 bit versions of Linux kernels have AMD64 in their name, despite working on Intel stuff flawlessly.
