Mesa 7i97T & LinuxCNC setup struggles

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

Without Tachometer feedback, the drives are running in torque mode.

There are a couple of options for controlling this:

1. Run as is with different tuning. For single loop torque control tuning is basically:

   A. Increase D term as far as possible until you get buzzing/hf oscillation
   B. Then increase the P term until you get instability and then back off to about 50% of that P value
   C. Increase the I term until you get instability and again back off on the I term about 50%

2. Use a spare analog output channel to simulate a tachometer so the drive itself can run in velocity mode

3. Use a dual PID loop control in LinuxCNC (inner velocity PID loop and outer position PID loop)

There are three hall sensor wires, which have been pre wired as i got the servos and drives as a set. i dont think this is the same as a tachometer?
There is also a 2000PPR encoder which is wired into the Mesa card

Ohmic sensing with IPTM-60

Unfortunately this goes back to work-in-progress state.
The normal arc voltage reader didn't give a reliable output during ohmic sensing.
I'll put in another voltage sensor, right over the 24V-ish supply to the torch and ground.

GSK 980 MDI milling machine, I want to make my first program

Category: Milling Machines

Heres a quick code thrown together out of Fusion drilling and countersinking a hole. Do some research on G code and how to setup your tool offsets and work offsets. hopefully it gives an idea of the G code structure for you.

Yeah Autodesk sucks. I have 5+ years of programmed parts and custom posts at work. Now they are killing the software. I have fusion so at least I can use my custom posts if needed. they better figure out the ITAR crap for fusion before they totally kill my HSMworks..

Hello everyone
After doing some research, I managed to understand how communication works, and at the moment I have everything communicating as I want it to.
Now my question is why the Spindle tab is not active in the CT table. Is there a bug or am I just an amateur?
thanks

HURCO KMB-1 Control Update

Hello, This is likely the wrong spot to ask this question, but as its one of the first things I've machined using linuxcnc on the machine...

The profile I've machined is essentially circular and should be symmetrical, and the bore clocks in at X0,Y0.
issuing a G0 X0, Y0 gets me back over the bore and it repeatably clocks in.
The finished machined part has a Y offset of 0.2mm.
This may be a programming issue, but I have noticed a random Y -28.11 offset in the tool table for the tool used.
If that entry was doing what I thought it should, then the mis-machining would have been 28.11 and not 0.2. However, could this entry have caused the issue?
On a three axis mill, is there a purpose for the X and Y offsets in the table?
Thanks

Hallo liebe Gemeinde

This Benezan config looks correct:

File Attachment:

File Name: 7i92t_benezanx2d.zip
File Size:235 KB

Benezan breakouts have step/dir swapped but this version has
the ability to swap the default step/dir pins with a hal parameter

What's up with guys posting random stuff about PUMA and bitcoin all of a sudden?

Category: Off Topic and Test Posts

Moved to "off topic...."
-
Those are scams as pretty much if someone gets a hold of your crypto wallet and move assets to another wallet, even god can not get those assets back.
The same guy posted the Puma thing, most probably malware when clicking on the link, basically if you click on it, your PC is not yours anymore as they have full control and all the info within. Yes, even credit card info if you ever ordered something online.
Puma were quite good at one point in time ... long ago.
-
In general:
-never click on links, ever
-never click on e-mails, ever
-never open any websites, except what you know for sure is OK
With e-mails it is very easy, if someone you know or work with sends you an e-mail, ALWAYS call them to confirm it is from them, otherwise delete WITHOUT opening. This is extremely valid for whoever uses Outlook or any Microsoft stuff/windows/office.
Etc, etc.
-
Edit:
Same person posted about online casinos just now
Always from the same provider in UK through a VPN or Proxy in Florida, USA.

Just report it and we will delete it, one of us usually notices it but it’s not always easy when it’s posted on existing topics. I for one do not read every post.
