Dreaming Question On Ohmic

Ok. I wasnt sure if there might be a slight reading before touch. Couldn't a hall sensor be used to read height above material? I know when i was in the concrete industry we had laser sensors that would measure distance and turn off feed belts when a hopper was at a certain level of concrete.

Their key changed a while ago. You should not get this with 2.9.4
Otherwise there is a script on another sticky threads to fix this.

Dreaming Question On Ohmic

Ya that's why I said or Better yet. I'm sure the fibre laser is using some form of ohmic as it doesn't touch the sheet I'm just not familiar enough with ohmic to know if it begins to receive a partial signal before it even makes contact. Ill look to see if i can find this opencv info

With ohmic, touching the surface acts like a switch so its either on or off.

I don't think so. The laser heads have capacitive height sensing built into them so they can read cut height without ever needing to probe and touch the surface.
Ohmic sensing uses  a physical probe and does not give that continuous height reading.

hello! I used to successfully use the "sudo apt install linuxcnc-ethercat" construct and it worked well, but now something is broken... it is impossible to establish a connection with the server...

I don't think dragging the torch on the plate is a good way in achieving the shape of the plate.
I think I saw someone making this with opencv. I would assume it’s way faster and you can see also “gaps” from example already cut parts.

i guessing the 1-3 m/m is m/min? metric conversions between units is not exactly my thing :) but if that is the case 120ipm is the high side. so it looks like things move pretty slow. 1 inch tube would probably be on the small side and spin the fastest so that's around 38rpm give or take.

Not related to your communication issue but do you have
isolcpus=11 in you kernel command line?

(pinning the IRQ to the last CPU wont help much if its not isolated)

Sorry about the problem, unfortunately sometimes we have to break the code to move forward. Thanks for the report back.

Dreaming Question On Ohmic

Category: Plasmac

I bring this crazy question and hope its already been done. A few days ago I saw a fibre laser run along and sense the layout of the material. Is it possible to get a similar function using ohmic, in allowing contact to be made and run along the sheet till the signal drops off? or better yet pick up a signal when its a smidge above the material so as to not run a grove in the metal and damage the tip?
