No boot pi 5

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Ok 120GB is going to relate to storage not ram.

What is the spec of your RPi5 ?
What image did you try ?
How old is your Rpi5, when did you buy it ?
Could you possibly take a picture of the screen ?

That worked thank you!

I am now getting a "joint 2 on limit switch" error when i try to jog the machine on start up. The only other thing that changes is i went from gmocappy to axis (since i no longer have a touch screen).

I went to hal show and tested all three (still waiting on the fourth) limit switches and both estops do what they should.

Should i undo the "-not" ? If that was the case shouldn't it be all the joints?

Integrating a BCL-AMP capacitive sensor to LinuxCNC

Category: Plasma & Laser

A cleaner, linear response signal could be the ticket, as I have fiddled with the PID parameters quite a bit as well as my Z axis velocities and accelerations and it is still not really where I'd like it to be.

Have you considered linearizing the output (with lincurve) before feeding the linearized distance to the
PID loop?

PCW: That is not something that I had thought to try. I'll have to give that some thought and see how it performs. Thanks for the tip

prokopcio, I'd recommend starting a new thread in this subforum so we can discuss your design. Looks promising!

The T4 should be fine with a Mesa 7i96s Ethernet card. There might be a couple of tweaks required depending on the network interface but we can deal with that later. I cover stuff here docs.google.com/document/d/1jeV_4VKzVmOI...diY/edit?usp=sharing

Hi Friends,

While i was working on my machine the RP4 and touchscreen i had it mounted to took a tumble and unfortunately the screen will not be returning. I took this as an opportunity to upgrade from a RP4 to one of those mini computers. All went well from the install perspective, there were no issues in the live environment or from the latency test. I moved forward with an install on the main disk and just finished going through the pncconf wizard with the same settings i had working with the RP4 and i get an error that looks like at real-time error. (pasted below)
hm2_eth: rtapi_app_main: Resource temporarily unavailable (-11) ./Cutter.hal:9: waitpid failed /usr/bin/rtapi_app hm2_eth ./Cutter.hal:9: /usr/bin/rtapi_app exited without becoming ready ./Cutter.hal:9: insmod for hm2_eth failed, returned -1 6432

I downloaded mesa flash to the new machine and am not able to ping it at 10.10.10.10 and ill post the output of ip -a on the new machine with the mesa (machine) powered on.

LinuxCNC-RIO - RealtimeIO for LinuxCNC based on FPGA (ICE40 / ECP5)

Category: Computers and Hardware

Can't recommend this set-up enough. For those who aren't particularly interested in engineering hardware and want a Snap-On Ready Kit, it just won't get any better than that. That'll do 50meg, prolly capable of more. Oliver did it all for grab  github.com/multigcs/rio-tangbob

Flash the bitstream over, plug-in a shielded 100mb cat6, and be done!!

This maybe a silly question bit is there a wiring diagram for the ribbon connector of the DB25's

Get same results when calculating vel for joint.0 inside the planner. Havent figured it out yet. I thought maybe split cycle. But have to dive deeper into it. Will do a motion test tomorrow.

Thank you. I know. My english is not so good.
an explanation with examples for an ethercat config file would be great. the beckhoff devices are not the problem. rather the servo drives.

thanks to your description I have come this far.

To the forum creators, would it be possible to add an option under Search by Keyword of Search Body Only?

For example, I am interested in the EC300 controller board. And looking for information on its use. There is a forum branch titled " Remora - ethernet NVEM / EC300 / EC500 cnc board "

See the issue?

There are a couple of sticky threads under the Ethercat section that should get you going.

Awesome work, This is the first XPR machine running under Linuxcnc I know of. Great you cracked the Ethercat settings

Good job!

You might want to check what Joco and Rod did with holes to get your own ”true hole” stuff in the cnc.

This is incorporated into Monokrom plasma which is a qtpyvcp variant of QTplasmac. I'll see if I can find Joco's latest git for you
In the meantime, this video of mine explains the process which is based on info shared with me by a guy who worked in the Hidef manufacturing industry
