-Netflix started with 9.99$ monthly sub, it was OK, now it's 49.99$ for utter garbage, last time i went to watch something, spent 1 hour 15 minutes searching for something worth watching, found nothing, second time spent 20 minutes found nothing, canceled the damn thing. And this for me was free, my sister was paying for it. Never again, not even for 9.99$.
-i drive a 20 year old car with manual gearbox, two ago i got through exchange a new-ish Passat with everything, even radar distance sensors, traded it for a very good PC and some money as i do NOT want to deal with all the crappy electronics inside it, and it will fail, for sure. And i want drive the car, not the car driving me! :)

Hypertherm XPR woes

Category: EtherCAT

Thanks Rod.  I have that document already and have examined it thoroughly.   And, yes, there are several 3000:xx SDOs that are used, plus some 3100, etc.  Here is an ESI file for the XPR from off an Edge Connect control.  Hypertherm has an EtherCAT Studio that reads this and generates the ENI xml file for their EtherCAT Master to use.  Notice the datatype DT3000 lists all applicable SDO entries I need.  However, when I query the XPR with EtherLab's EtherCAT Master, I get something different.  The attached file 'XPR sdos (captured).txt' is what I get from the query and it tells a different story than the ESI file provided for the XPR, (stops at 3000:02).

I have tried using bits and pieces of Hypetherm's generated ENI file, (attached: ethercat-config-xpr.xml), but EtherLab's master chokes on most of it.

I don't have access to TwinCat or EtherCAT Configurator from Beckhoff at this time but have sent a request to our Sales Rep to order the Configurator.  Apparently, he has to refer me to a "special group" at Beckhoff corporate.  I figure that may be my next best step on generating an ENI file with components I can use.

I'm afraid I'm going to run out of time to mess with the XPR before I get the Configurator and we have to ship out the XPR.

Have you, (or anyone), seen a similar situation where an ESI file is different than what you get by interrogating a device?

Hello, i will receive next week a Mori Seiki MV-40B (year 1989) with fanuc servo motors and drives and i want to keep old fanuc servo motors and spindle motor. In your opinion is better to reuse old servo drives or change with ethercat new models? (i dont know if will be problems with fanuc encoders)
I have already, touchscreen, linuxcnc pc, mesa board7i96s and 7i85 .
Any advice is very apprecieted. By the way, very nice project you made

The biggest issue is that Linuxcnc will require building from source as the RPi5 images don’t have Linuxcnc packages built from the most recent code base. Editing config.txt to turn on spi is a trivial matter.

Give me a day or 2 and I’ll generate an image with the most recent Linuxcnc & Mesaflash.

The 7C80 will work with the RPI5 using the hm2_spix driver.

Note that some 7C80s were shipped with firmware that does
not work with the RPI5. These cards can be re-programmed
on a RPI4 if that's convenient. All the distributed bitfiles are OK.

So true about them being counterfeit!!!

I don't think anyone sells genuine leadshine drivers!

I have only ever seen counterfeits.

I don't know how Leadshine stays in business.

Integrating a BCL-AMP capacitive sensor to LinuxCNC

Category: Plasma & Laser

Hello everyone! :)
shasse You Are The Best ! Good Job !

I am currently designing an advanced capacitive sensor.
I'm developing it for my own needs (for my controllers), but I've received numerous inquiries from people using Linux CNC about whether it could be applied there.

Unfortunately, I have no experience with LinuxCNC, but I don't think there should be any problem in using it for this purpose.
I'm at a stage where I can still make changes and improvements if needed.Initial tests have been outstanding, with a response time of less than 2ms.
The 0-10V output signal can be proportional to the calibrated capacitance or directly related to the measured distance (e.g., 0-10mm or 0-5mm).

Can be use like standard THC for PLASMA
If anyone here is knowledgeable about this and would like to use it with LinuxCNC, I'd be happy to collaborate (Beta Tester).

The condition for collaboration is an open thread on a forum with honest opinions, including updates on progress (or failures and setbacks).
I am open to criticism.

Steppers Not Moving / Mapped Wrong

Okay friends update.

Since all my drivers are all wired into the machine i built a little test rig with a spare stepper and micro controller to ensure all drivers weren't cooked and dip switches are correctly set.

I was able to verify that all the impostor tb6600 drives work once i changed their dip switches. The steps/rev in my code and what i'd expect from the dip switches being set doesn't line up but they all perform like i'd expect so I put them back into the machine.

However i wasn't able to get my C axis driver to spin the test motor. I am writing this off as its a closed loop motor driver trying to move an open loop stepper ( not sure this is the correct perspective) but i will solve it later.

X and Z now jog!!! I am waiting on some hardware to swap out because there's alot of rattling so i plan on  replacing the mounting bolts and shaft collars.

I cant seem to find any of the limit switches in Halshow so i am not able to get Y moving. I set the up as min limit +home and have min-home x/y/z in the scope to be shown but i do not get any state change when i press the switch down. I have them currently wired 24V+ - > NC - > C - > mesa input. Any ideas there? I've seen people wire 24V to the common input on the mesa?

I think it's actually the gcode example that is 'inverted' as it really creates a negative of a chess pawn.

Weird artifact while decelerating high speed robot arm

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

I don't think so. The same point is being passed through twice in this graph. If it was an inflection point there would be multiple artifacts, right?

if this is a 16 input module, there should only be one function 3 read
(because that read reads 16 bits at once into a single U32)

Also it's a bit  strange to use function 3 to read bits
as function 2 would be the standard thing for this.
