If you are not able to jog the motors then your problem is most likely with the ethercat setup itself. The kinematics (ie scarakins) has nothing to do with ethercat communication whatsoever.

Encoder feedback 7i77 sensor magnetic BALLUFF

Category: HAL

Hello everyone

I am using the 7i77 electronic board with the analog output AOUT1 connected to an analog drive on the Z axis.

The Z axis is the part that moves the punch of a punching machine.

This punch makes a downward movement with up to -10 volts and an upward movement with +10 volts. This movement perforates the metal sheet.

This Z axis of the machine has a magnetic sensor that detects the movement of the Z axis.

This sensor has an output connected to the INPUT0 input of the 7i77 electronic board that shows when the Z axis is moving upward.

The voltages of this magnetic sensor on the Z axis have a high limit of 10V, when the Z axis is moving downward the low limit is 0V.

Does anyone know how to configure the HAL configuration of LinuxCNC so that the 7i77 electronic board recognizes an analog input as feedback from the Z axis movement encoder?

I've tried two different cables. Ping to 10.10.10.10 would respond after power cycling, but it would stop after a few minutes. HMID read seems to confirm the stepgens and pwn on P1 connector.

Do I need to attach the 5abob card for this firmware to work? I've ordered a 7i75 Breakout/FPGA Protection Card, and it will come in a few days.

jog diameter lathe

Category: Basic Configuration

I have a small problem, I am in diameter mode G7 on my lathe but when I jog 1mm (X axis) the turret moves 1mm on the radius or 2 mm on the diameter.
Is there something I'm forgetting to do?

Dr. Stein, how are you?

Could you share how you managed to communicate the ethercat drivers and the scara cinematics? I've been doing this for months without much progress.

Ethercat installation from repositories - how to step by step

Category: EtherCAT

Mine doesn't give any errors. It's just that I don't know how to configure it in Linux CNC.

After my run I'll make a video from start to finish and a manual to post here for those who have never opened Linux CNC.

I open Linux CNC and press to move the axes and the software acts as if everything is fine, but it's not. In fact, I've started the trial and error phase... I'm disoriented :)

Notes from installation of ethercat on Raspberry Pi 4

Category: EtherCAT

hello, I just did this part:
1- www.linuxcnc.org/iso/rpi-4-debian-bookwo...23-11-17-1731.img.xz
2- forum.linuxcnc.org/ethercat/53785-instal...thercat-repositories and install,
3- forum.linuxcnc.org/ethercat/45336-etherc...-how-to-step-by-step ...

ethercat is installed but I haven't been able to communicate with the servo yet... that's what I'm doing now without any major processes.

Some issues of using "Home All"(home all joints) when using Multi-ring Absolute

Category: Advanced Configuration

The only difference is that HOME_ABSOLUTE_ENCODER = 1 means that the joint moves to HOME at the end of the homing sequence, whereas HOME_ABSOLUTE_ENCODER = 2 doesn't move at all,

You might have to experiment to see which works best with your kinmetics / switchkins system. But both should work.

EtherCAT Communication Issues, Lost Frames, Interruptions in Program Execution

Category: EtherCAT

Try disabling in BIOS, hyperthreading, turbo, speedstep, TPM, any power saving option, pci-e agresive link management or similar, modem, audio, serial ports, etc.
Also helpful, set a value for shared memory, do not leave it on auto, this i keep forgeting as it causes latency spikes whenever it adjusts the amount of memory dedicated to integrated graphic.

Does compilation of 2.9 work?

Master only currently supports Debian 11+ / Ubuntu 20.04 +

(Note that LTS support of Buster ended in June)

I powered cycled the board again, and it connected for a few minutes. Then again, "board not found" message.  It's intermittent, so I checked the cabling, and sure enough the ethernet cable was loose.

But I can't select any Pwngen in the Firmware Tab, and the Spindle section is still grayed out.

Does the drive show up as a USB-HID ? (I would be very surprised if it did, but you never know). If so then hal_input might work.
