Ah using Linux to entirely tune the feedback loop?

I am interested in Ethercat communication, but I am getting slightly cold feet as it appears to be a path far less travelled in this forum.

Am I right in thinking that if you run analog signal and rely on linuxcnc to close the loop, all tuning happens within Linux, as per your link?

No auto tuning through the drives etc?

yes it works if you use 2 tools one with piercing delay and one with 0 delay.
I'm using the tool from sheetcam (tempoary tool created from file). so i need 2 files or edit the file after pierce and reload.
what I'm thinking is just press a button and make the Pircing delay 0,

Silverdragon is based on gscreen and gtk. When I ported it to Qt, I renamed it QtDragon. I have since created an updated version on github, but it's still QtDragon. I'm not creative enough to come up with a cool new name.

I refurbished a 30-year-old CNC router machine at my school.

The original drivers were E-waste.

The original motors are great.

The original transformer (that powers the drivers) is also great (though it's terrifyingly powerful).

The original rectifer bridge + capacitor were also E-waste.

But most of the original switches are still good (one switch got welded contacts due to overcurrent).

Mechanical things outlive electrical things.

Yep! I'm keen to reuse the majority of the control contractors, breakers and transformers. I've got the full schematics for the machine, so ideally I would splice the original contractor boards into Linux control.

I'm a little apprehensive about cheap drivers as I've struggled with the manuals and particularly tuning in the past.

How was your experience setting up and tuning the servos?

Surface finish and accuracy are rather important to me on this machine

Unfortunately not. 


I updated Probe Basic and created a new configuration, but the problem isn't resolved. 

I tried changing spindle zero in SIM, and it does retain the spindle zero value.

I think the problem with the keys is with the probe basic interface because it works perfectly on axis.

    I keep getting a soft max and min limit after homing x and stops the homing all process, after homing it gives "Exceeded POSITIVE soft limit (4.80000) on joint 0" i can neither move x or y axis, can move z axis, I can home y axis, but then I cant move z axis after that.I have the axis version of linuxcnc 2.9.0 on plasma KDE desktop. 

unfortunately with NVEM I had a bad experience, even with drivers other than TB6560, it could be my fault.
With EC500 after a moment of panic for the time out,
it was possible to recover and it worked on the first try

it is not necessarily the same for you

yes the direction of rotation and all the axes respond, you have some axes that don't work at all! Mine work but not smoothly!
