Adaptive feed and feed hold are core to how plasmac for plasma machines operates.   However it does not use the gcode on/off capabilities that I have seen.

feed-hold issued during a tapping cycle could be catastrophic as it just stops xyz motion and does nothing to spindle.   Feed-inhibit would be appropriate then as it alllows synch motion as used in tapping to complete.

Adaptive feed along with external offsets allows for some cool cut recovery operations on a plasma or probably any jet cutting machine (e.g. Laser or water jet)

Did you run the commands I suggested and post the output ?

What RPi are you using ?
What Linuxcnc img are you using ?

It’s only showing 11 & 12, I can’t get 1 to show.

I’m pretty sure I’m using the latest kernel though.

I'm working on a Rpi5 with an image I built myself from rodw's image builder

Yeah I was working with it today and it does what it's supposed to but I couldn't get it to do what I actually wanted, which was go into a solid on output without having to add a bunch of other components. I managed to cook up a new one called "flash"

It is my understanding that for the Debian version of LinuxCNC libeditreadline-dev is being used as a GPL-v2 compliant alternative to libreadline and to avoid GPL-v3 conflicts. I have asked the Clear Linux team to see if that can be an option for them too.

I was able to enable i2c, but the instructions say use “sudo i2cdetect -y 1”, 1 doesn’t seem to exist for me, I can only detect 11 and 12 and neither show the 0x36 address.
I have confirmed that the pins are making good contact, so bad connection is ruled out.
Could it be the kernel configuration?

Can the startup errors be due the pullup resistors that has 7i80hd
and all pins before starting linuxcnc are at 5V ?

To turn on i2c

edit as superuser /boot/broadcom/config.txt and uncomment the lines relate to i2c.

then edit as superuser /etc/modules and either add i2c-dev or uncomment if it is commented out

reboot

That will get i2c up and enabled

Hey guys, I’ve add a Geekworm x1201 UPS to my Pi5 as I often get power outages at my place and wanted a bit of extra security.
I was able to access and change the EEPROM to get it to charge and power the pi5 from the batteries. But to change anymore detailed settings, like battery monitoring, It’s telling me I need to open Raspi-config. Which I obviously can’t using the Linuxcnc image.

unfortunately it’s all for the Raspberry Pi OS. 

Is there anyway I can make this work or am I wasting my time?

Probably here, as far as i can tell, everything else will inevitably lead to here, and google still seems to find the forum easily.

I have placed a simplified version of the configuration on the example of one of the most common 7i96s boards, as well as a diagram. They work just like the more complex options.
