Category: Advanced Configuration

Back to changer..
I deleted and reinstaled linuxcnc 2.9.2 today.
Problem still exist.
Make two video with problem.
First with my setup.
When use m6 commands or gcode all is ok.
But when press button for turn changer only carousel.0.current-position pin change carousel.0.pocket-number pin didint change. After that using m6 command machine want to unload tool to actualy position changer where is now no to pocket from before load the tool...
Thinking my setup maby is wrong but tryed with Vismach simulation is the same problem.
Any sugestion where lokking the problem??

I can make a simple configuration for 2 tools with a sensor for each tool with a carousel component. I can for 7i92+7i77 or 7i96s, because I have such cards to check. I think this will be enough for understanding. Which is better?

7i96S control HY VFD using RS485

Category: Driver Boards

Hi all. I recently purchased a Mesa 7i96S and was hoping to use the onboard RS485 capabilities to control my spindle through my HY VFD.

I've spent a few hours reading up about this topic and it seems that nobody has actually done this with this particular VFD?
Before I go down the rabbit hole of writing my own Mesa Modbus driver, is there any way to expose RS485 on the Mesa card to the existing implementation of hy_vfd?

Ok, PCW was telling that should be terminated at 7i96s. Can make that change.

The encoder velocity has consistentely fast changes.

Note: I was able to make the bit file changes to add 3 more encoder in expansion port.
This video was really helpful:

ah yes. That's not too big of an issue with this design, but its also complicated with lots of parts too.

4th axis build - Can I use Mitsubishi Servo Motor HF-SP102 (1kw) via SSCNET-III

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

If I recall correctly SSCNET-III needs a 222us cycle time which might be too fast for the MESA but I don't know. A regular step/dir driver would certainly make things a LOT easier. You can likely find a MR-J3-100A for around the price of the SSCNET-III interface card and be able to run it all over the MESA.

[edit]
Be advised that the Mitsubishi drives emulated encoder output have a time lag when you run it in position command so you may want to add an external encoder to your rotary if you want to have a position loop in linuxcnc but you could of course also just trust the drive:

I had the same issue using  Mitsubishi MELSERVO J4 drives with step/dir.

I'm not sure if i picked the right place for this, But i'm curious, there is a piece of software out that allows you to set a kerf width and nudge lines. to ensure you don't have your lines too thin during plasma cuts. I think Design Edge does this from Plasmacam but i'm wondering if there are any others that can do this as well or play Monkey Mart Game  ?

Design Edge from Plasmacam is a good option, but other software like SheetCAM and Fusion 360 can also handle this.

Hello
Thank you for all the work done :)

is there a way to open a tab (for example facing) directly with a physical button?

I tried to do so but without luck yet
Thanks

50mm pitch?

What is the actuator - do you have a picture?  If it's only doing it in one direction there may be an issue with the actuator or related mechanicals.

4th axis build - Can I use Mitsubishi Servo Motor HF-SP102 (1kw) via SSCNET-III

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

A cursory look through the manual (I think it's the right one) looks like the MR-J3-100B can also take +10v/-10v analog input control.

If so - and you'd better make sure I'm not way wrong - you could use a Mesa analog board to control it.

On the other hand, if you're using step/dir for you other drives new servos are getting so cheap it might make sense to just buy a new one and fit it up.

Side note - when I put a servo on my 4th, I found it extremely helpful to have a very precise home-to-index function.  Really cuts down on the typical fiddling getting a trunion table or vise dialed in.

Whatever servo you wind up with, try to ensure it's got an encoder index signal output, and you've got a couple free inputs (one high speed and one for a home proxy).
