What is the step time set for?
(no motion is often an issue with too small a step time)

Well for now its still set on the default 5000 but I did try increasing/decreasing it and still no luck.  Also when I enable and jog it using the drives Motion Studio software I notice theres an internal fan that turns on for cooling and the diplay on the drive also changes and the shaft on the motor becomes locked and cant turn it.  When I enable the servo from Pncconf it doesnt turn on or do anything at all?  I even tried enabling the servo from the Motion Studio software then try and send it step/dir signals from Pncconf and no luck.  Is there somthing that needs to be programed to tell the drive to enable first?  This CNC hardware stuff is so sophisticated and there like no documentation on it :(

If the Remora can do a plain counter mode with its encoder inputs
It should be possible to make that work (it would be helpful if the
encoder also had a velocity pin)

I am trying to use remora and a BTT octopus that is already mounted to cnc, could I use the THCAD2 and input the FOUT- and FOUT+ as the "plasma up" and "plasma down", or as an encoder with ChA and ChB ?
remora code I think would apply for encoder?

or remora code for plasma up and down?

StepperOnline T6 servo drive

Category: PnCConf Wizard

Hi, is anyone familiar with the StepperOnline T6 servo drives?  I had got one a few weeks ago as they are sold as a complete kit including motor and cables and are supposedly a ready to run kit.  Well, I got mine and connected the step/dir wires to a mesa 7i96s then in the Pncconf wizard I go to test the axis and there’s no movement.  When I connect to it using the diagnostics cable and Motion Studio configuration software it starts rite up and I’m able to jog it.  Does anyone know if there’s some kind of special parameters settings needed on the drive to make it work?
I see in the manual it says something about how “frequency for both input mode signal is 500kHz(Differential), 300kHz(Single-ended).”  Is Pncconf using the correct frequency or is that something I should be looking at?  Thanks Or how can I set this up as a spindle using step/dir?  Thanks

I didnt know it when I got it but the Fanuc O-Mate control does have rs232 but does NOT have drip feed. Which means it can only ever machine a program smaller than 32kb. Not interested. Also I looked into upgrading the fanuc or something and it wasnt long before I was also not interested. Thank god for Linux CNC because I can now upgrade the heck out of this thing rather than sink time and money into 1990s fanuc.

So the plan so far is to piggy back off Marco Reps Leadshine ethercat video and replace the motors and drives. I started to go down other cheaper routes but I decided to splurge on ethercat for future lights out and automation ideas.
EL8 Drives:
www.leadshine.com/product-detail/EL8-EC750F.html
750w Motors: www.leadshine.com/product-detail/ELM1H-0750MA80F.html

I have been researching what vfd to use in order to truely get rid of all the fanuc (besides the spindle motor) and have just purchased a version 3 WJ200-037LF from ebay for $240. Crazy cheap.

The next thing to do was get to know the bearings and screws. There was plenty of grime to clean.

Turns out there is some slop and rust in the x thrust bearing so I got some of those in the mail for x and y.

Next I needed to make a fixture plate for vises since the tslot table top was missing.

Then I did some test cuts in aluminum to see how the mechanicals are doing.

Then some cuts in tool steel. Some minor chatter with a ten thou stepover but Im pretty satisfied.

Hi guys. Im very excited to get a decent control in this new to me cnc mill from 1990.   The first thing I wanted to do is pick the machine up a little bit. It wasnt very ergonomic so low to the ground.  ...nothing that a couple 200 lb metal chucks cant fix.  I machined a couple of dowels at the right spots to fit inside the tube leveling feet so I never have to think about it moving around on me.  Now my machine has a 6" lift! I knew the 4x4 days would come in handy. Much better!

Mitsub_vfd - back to back speed commands causes error

Category: Advanced Configuration

Rather than an error at the modbus level, is it possible that
the back to back G96/G97 commands are causing a step in
the commanded RPM that generates a drive fault  of some kind
say from lack  of a braking resistor during decell?

You might be able to use an ethercat step/dir module. Beckhoff have one. There are plenty of others
