Ethercat Servo+Glas scale = clods loop was created by Millimetergott

Ethercat Servo+Glas scale = clods loop

Category: EtherCAT

Hello, I'm currently facing a small problem. I want to monitor my servos (Stepperonline A6 750w), which are operated via EtherCAT, using a closed loop. Currently, I only get feedback from the motor encoders, but I already have glass scales installed. Now I'm trying to link them so that the glass scales work together with the servos via PID (the scales are triggered by the Beckhoff EL5101).
Regards, Tom

How to install kernel patch? (Moschip 9900)

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

OK I just looked into the latency test. It's almost 70k which i assume is bad... I tried changing to isolcpus=3 with no change.

I saw in another post someone said to use RTAI kernel but I cannot figure out how to install it. Computer is Dell Optiplex 9020 which people have recommended in several other forum posts.

Do you think RTAI is the right route? do i need to reinstall linuxcnc with a different image and then install the .deb file for rtai?

This will be the second machine in the shop powered by linux. I'm getting close to having the 10x15 plasma table I've been building completed. Got all the motors/mechanical finished. The way the bar feeder works is it has 2 hydraulic clamps and one clamp is connected to a ball screw. Threw cycles of clamping unclamping and movement of the screw it carts the material forward.
Still unsure if I'm going to move forward with this saw project or not the saw is in pretty rough shape I'm bringing it home today or tommorow but I most likely will. I also bought a cnc lathe the same day a hyundai hit 20m for $1000 it's in nice shape but haven't been under power for 4 years and had some connection issues when we put it under power. So I definitely have my hands full here with projects. What do you guys think about gui how should I go about making one?

Planning to Retrofit a Mazak Integrex200Y Mill-Turn Machine

Category: Advanced Configuration

I do not think any of mine are 44mm in height, should be more, but i will have to check that to be sure.
I will also check the exact model, if possible.

Seems pretty simple compared to what i had to deal with, namely a fully automated one with drilling on 3 sides included.
I would definitely use LinuxCNC, but i might be biased having done over 20 or 30 conversions! :)

How to install kernel patch? (Moschip 9900)

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

PC latency is likely the cause of the issue , I doubt that it's driver related.
(especially it it ever worked)

Did you run a latency test?

Inverting jogging sense of X Axis on a VistaCNC P1A-S pendant

Category: HAL

As far as joint/axis being uncoupled that is possible with the newer version of LNC you may only need joint mode. However, for position mode still active I don't see it anywhere in the hal files you have posted.

There is this line in your configuration, which I don't know what it does

net motion-in-position motion.in-position => vc-p1as.is-moving.

This line uses motion.in=position from the motion component not halui. so you have a mix of halui component and motion component for jogging I wonder why they choose this complicated route. I am going to the gym now I will have look at your hal files later and report back.

How to install kernel patch? (Moschip 9900)

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

When I boot the computer, lspci -v shows the card, and i can jog the stepper. But after a little bit the stepper stops working and lspci -v shows "(disabled)" next to the ports. The only way I've found to get it working again is to reboot.

I have the windows driver installed (dual boot), do you think that could mess it up on linux somehow? It's just weird that it works and then becomes disabled partway through working, so i figured maybe that patch would help. Unless the patch is outdated and the latest kernel already supports 9900?

Also, when the stepper does jog, it will stop for a split second intermittently, and then soon after show "joint 0 following error". It also shows "unexpected realtime delay on task 0 with period 100000... run latency test and resolve before continuing," I already ran the latency test.

Plasmac to Qtplasmac conversion not working

Category: Plasmac

You haven’t stated if you’re trying to use 2.9 or 2.10, but either way, my recommendation is to just run pncconf and make a new config.

So much has changed from when the conversion script was made, and it was really a stop gap when QtPlasmaC first came out that wasn’t fully maintained.

The 24 isolated inputs are all controlled by the inmux pins.

I guess they could be named "TB5-1,12, TB6-1,24" rather than "internal"
in mesaflash...

Edit: pushed a change to mesaflash to rename 7I95/7I97/7C80  "internal"
pins to more informative names.

It's a mystery to me, that's what the mesaflash command returns
mesaflash --addr 10.10.10.10 --device 7i95t --readhmid

Maybe PCW can shed some light on that?

Wouldn't be to bad to use linuxcnc. I'm in the process of building an automated saw with a magazine to load bars.

How does the bar feed work?

That's would determine my approach

Inverting jogging sense of X Axis on a VistaCNC P1A-S pendant

Category: HAL

Thanks Benb, I did that and unfortunately nothing changed. I guess what really determines the direction of the axes is halui.joint.N.[plus|minus]. I even took halui.axis.X.plus and minus out of the configuration line, and the pendant works with just halui.joint.0.[plus|minus].

In my tests I even commented out all the lines that have halui.joint.N.[plus|minus] and Velocity mode stops working, but to my surprise, Step mode still works. It is as if Step mode is set up somewhere else but I can't figure out where.
