Error getting packages on fresh install on Raspberry Pi 5

Category: QtPyVCP

Good morning.
for some reason it seemed like it would be fun to set up Ethercat and LinuxCNC and ProbeBasic so here we go.  Downloaded the 2.9.3 image from (forum.linuxcnc.org/9-installing-linuxcnc...or-raspberry-pi-4b-5), Then went to follow the standard instructions for installing probe basic from the install site Probe Basic Install.

Followed the instructions for the Arm64 (kcjengr.github.io/probe_basic/stable_quick_start_apt.html) but get the following error message on trying to do the Apt update before installing

N: Skipping acquire of configured file 'main/binary-arm64/Packages' as repository 'repository.qtpyvcp.com/apt stable InRelease' doesn't support architecture 'arm64'

I have checked the kcjengr.list file at /etc/apt/sources.list.d and it lists the arch type as arm64

XHC WHB04b-6 - Disconnects / freezes?

Category: Basic Configuration

Hello Community,
i ve the same problem with disconnects and freezes of the WHB04-6 and i think its not a matter of the Linuxcnc Version, its a matter of the source code of the WHB04.
I use Linuxcnc 2.8.4 and gmoccapy with a XHC-WHB04-6 and its working in manual mode very well, but if i move the Jogwhheel in the Mode MDI or in Auto will switch the WHB04 to manual mode.
The problem start if i use the mode Auto and a program is running and i move in this time the Jogwheel ... then i get a fault message " its impossible to switch from Auto to manual mode in a running program" after will freeze the WHB04 in.
I search in the HAL for a solution, but the switch function is programed ( so i suppose ) in the source code.
I think the fault chain start earlier, with the functions "mpg" , "con" and "stp"
With the function "mpg" (directly after start of gmoccapy) is working the Jogwheel at the feeding rate ..... after press on the Button "con" or "stp" is impossible to switch back to "mpg".
Have anybody a solution for this kind of problem?

Thank you so much in advance

Best regards
Reinhard

Controlling a compressor with Linuxcnc. was created by Creative25

Controlling a compressor with Linuxcnc.

Category: Plasmac

I have a serious problem with our power company.
The 60 amps connection to our house is not what they say. I have serious voltage drops between utilities transformer and our house and they will not fix it. Looks like common practice in our area.

I can reliably cut at 35 amps.
if I go higher depending how much power my neighbors are using The plasma cutter gets an undervoltage and cuts out.

So the table happily cuts until the compressor starts.
Then the plasma cuts out because it gets an undervoltage.  Qtplasmac pauses and gives an arc lost warning.

If the torch is off during the probing and the compressor kicks in the program keeps running until the compressor cuts out because of undervoltage.

So I can not run plasma and compressor at the same time.

So I was wandering If I add a relay an electric unloaded valve and a pressure sensor to the compressor. Would it be possible to control the compressor with Linuxcnc.

I was thinking about the following. When pressure drops to a certain level. Well above what the plasma needs the program pauses. Preferably at the end of a cut.
then the compressor starts. When the tank is full the program resumes.

Is that possible?

Hallo Arno!

(Google translated)

Hier ist eine angepasste Handlerdatei, mit der Sie mit f5 das Kontrollkästchen „Grenzwerte überschreiben“ aktivieren können.

Siehe hier (2.8.2. Handler-Patching):

linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/gui/qtvcp.h...cp:modifying-screens

Anweisungen zum Hinzufügen der Datei zu Ihrem Konfigurationsordner finden Sie hier.

LinuxCNC-RIO - RealtimeIO for LinuxCNC based on FPGA (ICE40 / ECP5)

Category: Computers and Hardware

Good idea, I tried setting the feedrate low, but no difference.

Then I measured with my oscilloscope. The Tang outputs all work as intended. Direction, Enable and Step. Focusing on Step the signal looked really good no matter what feedrate. However, the issue is the logic converter. I am using the Texas Instruments TX0108E. www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/txs0108e.pdf?ts=1730734048833 But the step output signal is only 0-2.5V and not the intended 0-5V. Sometimes the output goes up to 5V, but not very often. The enable and direction pin are a bit more reliable but even they are not always 0 or 5V and are sometimes in between. I thought I made something wrong or the level shifter are damaged, but found this video.
The issues he has are very similar to mine and even all the comments under the video don't give an solution.

Anyone an idea how to get the TX0108E working correctly ??

I ordered last time some of those as well, the order is supposed to be here this week. I have 1x 3.3V to 5V and 2x 3.3V to 12V in the order. I wonder if i can use the 3.3V to 12V with just 5V for the stepper driver www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803586254541.html

Hey Tom good day to you, my names Tom as well BTW
(theres never enough Toms on the job! haha)
So THCAD5 would be for a divider board with a 0-5v range and thc10 would be for a divider board with a 0-10v range correct? So I will need to see what the voltage output of the divider board on my hypertherm is if there is one or purchase a divider board and wire it up to the raw arc voltage correct? I apologize for bugging you guys with so many questions but I really don't want to order the wrong components so it is very much appreciated.

Please supply more information "does not work" isn't very helpful.

What IP addresses are you using ?

Have you tried to
sudo menu-config
to configure the pi ?

Have you looked at the announcement thread for the RPi 5 image ?

Keep in mind that the image is somewhat different to a standard Raspbian OS iamge, so a lot of the info you'll find for that is not applicable.

Tommy has given good advice, older PCs a so much better and easier than an RPi to setup for Linuxcnc.

But to help you we will need more information, what have you tried ? What has happened ? Do you have any error messages.
