scorbot-er-3

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

Thank you everyone I now have it working, and am in the process of adding a Logitech dual action F310 controller as a pendant.
The Scorbot-ER_3 limit switches needed readjusting using MOTOR TEST, on the Eshed Robotic control box with the Arm repositioned close to home.
For anyone trying this here is what was done:
Slammed the Dell Optiplex 9010 with ALL accessories attached and turned on with NO internet. Launched LinuxCNC and selected other machines Scorbot-ER-3 adding an icon to desktop.
In LinuxCNC Terminal typed:
"sudo nano /usr/bin/scorbot-er-3"
changed
"/usr/bin/scorbot-er-3", line 40 from this:
serial.write(data)
to:
serial.write(data.encode())
and saved
Next in terminal typed:
halrun
loadusr -W hal_input -KRAL Dual
loadusr halmeter
tested the Dual Action F310 controller
Then typed:
Quit
Exit
Opened LinuxCNC Scorbot-ER-3 icon and in the "Machine" tab selected input "0" and typed in "loadusr -W hal_input -KRAL Dual" then execute. Closed tap and reopened and tested the Logitech dual action F310 controller Pendant input signals.
Had to readjust the limit switches on the bot again for homing.
.  Next is calibration and editing the Scorbot-ER_3 hal to use the Logitech dual action F310 controller as a pendant.
It does run the supplied "LINUXCNC" example but very tiny letters. Also there is a gripper slide in the main LinuxCNC screen in the upper right corner that works using the mouse, not sure how to add to the G-Code yet or the Logitech Pendant which does not have Analog output. I tried to attach a video but was unable.
Again thanks for all of the help

How do you power it do you have a separate power supply?
Does it need a resistor ion series?

I was wondering what a good stable GUI would be for my CNC mill? I have a Mesa 7i96 with 4 axis and a probe. I know I can see the HAL tools in Axis, are they included in others?

Slider (scale) to change stepper acceleration

Category: pyVCP

Hello!
I'm wondering is it possible to change stepper motors ACCELERATION value in real time with the pyVCP scale (SLIDER) component.
Yes  I can change MAX_ACCDLERATION value in INI file but rebooting is not very good solution.
Any HAL code example will be welcomed also.

This solution will help to remove (decrease) mechanical vibration from big router type laser cutter.

Remora - ethernet NVEM / EC300 / EC500 cnc board

Category: Computers and Hardware

Should actually be the right firmware for the board. Flashing worked, ping worked, uploading the configuration worked. Only the connection board to RPI does not work yet. Guess I need another cable for the direct connection.

Installing older version of ProbeBasic on buster and linuxcnc 2.8

Category: QtPyVCP

thanks i'll check this. So far it seems to work by overwritng the .ui and .py files with the ones i made and run my machine config. I just need to change couple of things for saving my parameters as paramsaver is not working anymore.

just an fyi, if you want to run this on a machine that doesn't run the ui in a virtual environment, you will need to build a deb in order to install it on a different machine system.

Retrofiting Scm record 220

Tommy Light,

Well from what I understood back then from others is that programing is also needed.
Will probably make some smaller machines in future and someday even 5 axis so its good to know if they can accept multi axis machining with RTCP.

Be careful, maybe best way is to go with BOB that can accept all inputs and outputs machine have so you dont have to worry what to do with rest of them and accidentaly blow something up like I did with Frenic VFD. I didnt know there was 24v present on 2 pins and was not in manual so I accidentaly connected it to THR and fried something.
Yaskawa SGDB accep step/dir signal, I will use differential signal because my Uccnc bob accept them.
I can sent you manuals for SGDB, num1040, record 220 all machine assembly parts and for Frenic 5000 g9s if you dont have.
You can send me pictures of machine on mail too and I can help you with anything since am just starting to retrofit it too.

G-code optimization

I've generally considered such things as being part of the CAM program itself. The better the CAM program, the more optimal the tool pathing. I have not used Fusion 360 so can't comment on the efficiency of the code it tends to generate. But considering the source I wouldn't be surprised if it were purposely inefficient, and more efficient options are pricey upgrades.

Questions about milling machines with linear scales

Category: Milling Machines

Get a good indicator and check for mechanical backlash on the machine, .0001" per division.
There should be no backlash on the scales. Not sure sure what you mean. Reader should follow the machine.
Is this a ball screw driven machine? AC bearings on the screw? Quill on the Z? Everything that moves has some play and will add up especially under load. I usually write down all play values for each axis/components and have that as a reference for wear down the road....
