I think that would be right because the 8168 driver is not part ot the default kernel. The dkms driver compiles and installs kernel source. THis is why you need the linux-headers for your kernel. dkms should also recompile the driver if you install a different kernel.

Now before anyone starts beating at the keyboard with "Fanuc does this..." and " Siemens is the..." and "LinuxCNC lacks..." types of stuff, yes they are very good at ONE THING only, so that throws flexibility and versatility out the door, and from my experience, new Siemens stuff lacks reliability, a lot, compared to LinuxCNC with Axis GUI.

Ok i was on another linux distro trying to get the appimage to run.
It turned out the best way to compile it was from the /opt dir. As this dir is always the
same at linux.

Can someone verify if this pop ups a program?

it's there.   I built from latest source on 7/19.
just ran the qtdragon_xyz sim.   changed the probe to versa_probe in the .ini
below is an image of the .pref file.
Interesting it has both the misspell and the correct spell.
I added a tool 99 and a tool 98.  and set the
I manually changed tool with the M61Qn button twice.  once for each tool, 98 and 99.
Did a manual spindle forward and it appeared to spin.  At least no notice or warning and it

so, checked a bunch more through hal_show..   it's using the correct spelled pref section name probe number...good.

when are the qtversaprobe hal pins formed??? 
seems to have other issues.   see the last image of the hal_show.... 

 
 
 


 

1 Why are you using the old version with Debian Buster?
2 It does not work with "secure boot" so you will have to disable that in the computers BIOS.
3 Some computers also need enabling the "compatibility mode" in BIOS or they will not find the hard drive after disabling "secure boot"

Remember not to get side tracked away form the core g1/g0 paths. this is how this quest always dies, trying to get to broad or advance, following every little side case.

You can certainly run LinuxCNC in simulation mode in a virtual box,
but its not likely that you can run an actual machine that way.
Normally LinuxCNC requires latencies considerably less than 1 ms.

I am newbie to LinuxCNC, I wanted to have it first on virtual machine.
Unfortunately I am getting too high latency results. Tried to adjust the virtual box settings: reduce number of CPUs, disabling network adapter and USB. It enhanced from 15ms to 10ms. But still too far.
Can anyone who has experienced similar issue share with me how to resolve it?

Leider habe ich erst jetzt gelesen das Du große Probleme hattest.
Ich bin davon ausgegangen du würdest deine HAl wie von Talla beschrieben anpassen.

If you try to reload a file that no longer exists there is a python error.
If there is no file to reload I think the button should be disabled:
self.w.btn_reload_file.setEnabled(os.path.isfile(self.last_loaded_program))
Maybe under periodic_update in the qtdragon handler file?
