Remora - ethernet NVEM / EC300 / EC500 cnc board

Category: Computers and Hardware

Remora/Ec500 now running a Denford Triac Mill. Homing/limits/emergency stop/axis and spindle sorted. Need a relay to wire in the coolant pump.

I originally had this running on a cheap eBay BOB using the denford drivers. When I switched over to the EC500 I could not get the driver working correctly with the EC500. After many attempts with different IC and board configurations I gave up trying to use the denford drivers and bought DM556T drivers. Still on the denfords motors.

Monitor is a cheap Amazon touchscreen, worked without any messing around.

PID tuning when you have a tuned Servo in CSP mode?

Category: EtherCAT

finding a thread from like 2023, it looks like what I am seeing is processing delay between ethercat and where LinuxCNC thinks things should be... The actual servo error rate (according to its software's scope) is less than 4 steps out of 1280 steps per mm)..

I did some napkin math and 5mm ferror suggests a processing delay of .0083 seconds. Does that sound reasonable or should I be looking somewhere to bring that delay down?

Thanks

OK, thanks for the explanation, so I've set all this up correctly on my other axes with switches
I've performed the action, search velocity to 0 on my b axis with encoder. but the axis doesn't stop. it doesn't seem to find the index? still the same problem.

Locales must be set to UTF-8 for LinuxCNC to work properly, be it for wizards or for some of the GUI's.
Probably should be mentioned in the docs, preferably at the very beginning, but not much of an issue from what i read on this forum.
Google "setting locale utf-8 debian", quite easy to do.
Hard to know if it works always for all the languages included.

Good catch. I just saw the 0 on the encoder port and assumed it was the same issue. I don't know about the translations either...I tried to take a quick look at the source but it immediately became clear I don't have enough understanding of it for it to be quick. Hopefully snowgoer540 can provide some guidance.

Hey, jochen91,

I received the ICs and had the boards you generously provided me with produced. However, I am facing some issues and I thought to ask you for advice.

I'm pretty certain the encoders are wired correctly, both to the board and to the 7i97t. However, I am getting virtually no response or indication the linear encoders (or the rotary ones) are even alive or powered on at all. Measuring pins on both ends of the board with an oscilloscope shows me nothing when I move the axis by hand - just a static ≈3V.

Reading the documentation a bit, it seems these scales need 5V on both pins 1 and 9 weirdly. I don't think your board design accounts for that, unless I am misunderstanding something with the jumpers? Either way, I soldered 1 and 9 together to try to get around this, yet there was still nothing to show for it.

Do you have any idea what I may be doing wrong? Honestly, I'm out of ideas at this point.

I finally found the "Signal/Slot Editor" in Qt, and the callback is now working.

Is : halcmd show pin div2.OilPump.in the correct way to write to a pin?

So did the tuning and was able to to use the THC correctly.
Still working on the tuning though.
Would it be wise to start using the last version of linuxcnc with qtplasmac?

just create a project in the TC3 ... setup all stuff as DC, SDOs PDOs, task cycle, names of everything ... everything will be written in the .xml of master export ... there it will be right stuff and there will be probably nothing to customize ...

download the tool ... launch them .. write "complete" or "c" .. then drag and drop .xml export and everything what is needed to have in the .xml file will be created in the new ethercat-conf.xml automaticly .. then just connect everything in the .hal file

AX5xxx is SoE .. you will have to create custom hal driver for them probably... I do not have experiences with them at all

I do not know what which "ax5106.xml/ax5203.xml" you mean..

motor you need to tune in the beckhoff drive manager which is part of the TC3 ... it motor is in the catalogue, no extra tunnig is necessary
