7i97t will ping, not recognized by mesaflash

Category: Driver Boards

Thank you both for your quick responses.

To answer Tommylight, I wasn't attempting to flash it. I wanted to use mesaflash to read its current info, and verify the board is working. The manual I was reading stated mesaflash 3.4.5 or later was required. When I was unable to communicate with or recognize the board using mesaflash 3.4.9, I thought I had a dud. Now, thanks to PCW I know that I need 3.5.3 or newer. At this time github has 3.4.9 listed as master. Since ping works and I do not need to flash the card I will continue on with my fears of a dud alleviated.

You could use MesaCT to read the HMID and PD from the card as well as verify the card is found.

linuxcnc_2.9.1-amd64.hybrid.iso Intallation fail

Category: Installing LinuxCNC

I now exclusively use Balena Etcher to burn ISO's. It is by far the best.
The later versions of linux are harder to install so  have had issues with rufus

Gearchange two gears, electronic clutch

Category: Advanced Configuration

Hello.
I have a mill spindle with 2 gear positions(slow-fast) that can change by activating solenoid hydraulic valve also has 2 inductive sensors to verify which gear is engaged.
The motor rpm controlled by drive with analog -10V +10V from mesa 7i33.
I will use also an encoder for rigid tapping.. how many lines per rev is good ? index pulse needed ?

How can change gears automatically only with m3-m4 command
(<250rpm gear1 | >250rpm gear2 )?
For example if i give m3 s200 change to gear1 and run spindle
if i give m3 s1000 change to gear 2 and run spindle.

Versa Probe with Qtdragon hang

Category: Basic Configuration

Hello
Randomly, when I Z probe, QtdragonHD just hang after the first contact with the workpiece. The green probe light flashes once the, then every thing stops for 30 sec. Then a popup shows the following message:
ERROR INFO: Probe routine: Probe down: latch return failed: Command timed out: (30 second)

When this occurs, all next probing down attempts will fail.

Yesterday, I found that hitting the "Machine On" button twice could reset the process and allow other succesfull Z probe.

I never experienced this when probing on X and Y.

Need help in choosing controller board from small honby cnc.

Category: Driver Boards

I think you have missed my last few post. I have posted every detail including all config files. Also asked some questions. Lastly I sent hal file for working PRUencoder. But still there is problem of delay in selector switches of axis and scale selection. And delay is 20-30secs. which is quite large enough.

Update 1:-
1. eStop working now. I have defined pin type "eStop Pin" instead of "eStop". So using type "eStop" fixed this. Is there any way I can toggle estop and machine on GUI using hardware buttons?
2. Removed base thread configs. Now I can reach speed of 1500mm/sec.
3. Still issue really slow switching of axis selector and scale selector switch. Please have a look at my configs, You might notice something. How to descide value of "setp encoder.0.position-scale 400.0"? encoder pins are working in wrong direction. I will exchange pin positions.

Update 2:-
Changing PRU_Freq to 80000 increased feed to 1500mm/sec approx.
Changing PRU_Freq to 120000 increased feed to 2200mm/sec approx.

Update 3:-
Problem of slow switching of axis selector and scale selector switch is due to I am using EXP1 pins, I have re arranged the pin connections and solved the issue of axis selection delay, But now I have to figure out suitable pins for scale selector.

Update 4:-
Found that jogging from MPG pendant is not working after Homing.
Solution.. Only joints were defined and enabled in config. After homing axis should enabled and used.
Now working after Homing.

Help with minimized config for full customized interface !

Category: Qtvcp

Hi,everyone ,I'm newer diving to qtvcp.the built-in control panel such as axis ,gmoccapy ,qtdragon is convinient to use but they all having some limit .I'm considering build a full customized control panel screen ,but I dont know what is the minimized config I should prepare. When I tried put a .ui,.py,.ini three file into the config folder of linuxcnc ,I used ui for the interface,py file for connecting the ui element to the machine using linuxcnc module ,and the ini for let linuxcnc make it run .I found it always not able to run the panel succefully ,so I dont know what is the minimized config files except the three ways .I dont include hal because that'll be more complex .By the way ,when running such three files config it always return error "AttributeError: 'VCPWindow' object has no attribute 'MainWindow'". but I did find MainWindow in the ui file.I dont know why because I dont know the mechanism how the vcp really work. May anyone in the forum tell me what should I do exactly if I want to build a full customized control screen with qtvcp ?Thanks

Thank you for the information.
I thought it would be more complicated.
If I have understood correctly, then cores 5 to 7 are isolated. But what are these cores used for?
Don't you still have to assign the IRQ from the network card to a core?
I'll try later to see if Chris's instructions lead to an improvement.

Smart Serial port not detecting remote 7i87 card

Category: General LinuxCNC Questions

Yes, I was confused about the wiring. It is fixed now with TX > RX, RX > TX but I still not detecting the 7i87 and I'm not even certain that the sserial port is working even though mesaflash shows the module is loaded:

> sudo mesaflash --device 5i25 --readhmid
