Do you mean mesaflash ?
MesaCT can flash the firmware from the GUI.

Do you have a 7i96 or 7i96S ? Those are not the same firmware wise although functionally they are pretty much the same.

Error in 7i96s firmware update file to connect with 7i77 result Checking file...

Category: Driver Boards

Hello everyone, please, I need help updating the firmware of the 7i96s board to recognize the P1 host connection with 7i77. I'm a beginner and I may be making some basic mistake. Please any tips help.
Below is the update command:

cnc@cnc:~/Documentos/7i96s/configs/hostmot2$ sudo mesaflash --device 7i96s --addr 10.10.10.10 --write 7i96s_7i77d.bin --reload
result:
Checking file... Invalid bitfile header!

The directory is www.mesanet.com/software/parallel/7i96s.zip

Below is the type of board version I'm using:

cnc@cnc:~/Documentos/7i96s/configs/hostmot2$ sudo mesaflash --device 7i96s --addr 10.10.10.10 --readhmid
Configuration Name: HOSTMOT2

General configuration information:

 BoardName: MESA7I96
 FPGA Size: 20 KGates
 FPGA Pins: 256
 Number of IO Ports: 3
Width of one I/O port: 17
 Clock Low frequency: 100.0000 MHz
 Clock High frequency: 160.0000 MHz
 IDROM Type: 3
 Instance Stride 0:4
 Instance Stride 1:64
 Register Stride 0:256
 Register Stride 1: 256

Edit..... Nevermind can do this from mesact

Id you are trying to use a 7i96s with a bob you need to install the firmware first.

Go to the mesa website, your board, download the firmware files

The in console,
Sudo install mesflash (edited.. Thanks)
The see all the commands with mesaflash --help
If memory serves
Cd to your firmware
The the command is something like
Mesact flash -- ipaddr, --board, --firmware file

That'll get you the firmware flashed.

The use the hostmod command to see what pins you can call from hal file

If any of the motion commands move outside the red boundary box, you will get this error.
Hard to tell from this angle. Is g53 z0 inside the machine limits?

A G53 line will use the machine coordinates rather then the user (G5x) coordinates for the commanded move.

If you are using it just as a spindle the easiest setup is use the mesa analog output to control the spindle.

If you want direct rpm feedback then most servos also pass the encoder data out via a A B and index (z) pins the mesa can directly read via the encoder pins.

Mesa 7i96s and 750W AC servo

Category: PnCConf Wizard

Hi, sorry for posting on here so frequently but this time I’m trying to ask for some advice on whether the components that I am thinking of purchasing and putting together will work with LinuxCNC?

Components:
  • Mesa 7i96s – Motion Control Board
  • DYN4 AC Servo Drive – Servo Drive
  • 86M-DHT 0.75kW AC Servo Motor – 750W AC Servo Motor

Concept and goal:
So the idea is id like to connect the Mesa 7i96s to the DYN4 AC driver and use the 86M-DHT 750W AC servo as a spindle.  It says on the DMM site that they are capable of 3000-5000RPM.  The 86M-DHT is the only motor I’ve been able to find that has both matching frame mounting with Nema34 and a shaft diameter of 14mm.  This motor should perfectly replace the current BLDC spindle motor that I’m currently having issues with.

Questions:
  • Will the 7i96s be able to communicate with the DYN4 and is it difficult to configure using the Pncconf wizard?
  • Is the 86M-DHT AC Servo going to work as a spindle be able to reach and maintain variable speeds up to 5000rpm on a 1:1 ratio?
  • What mode will I be using to send control signals to the DYN4 driver?  The driver’s manual says it can accept input modes RS232, Pulse/DIR, A/B Phase, Analog, CAN, and Modbus.  In the 7i96s manual I can only find output modes for Step/Dir and PWM analog.  I assume it would be using Step/Dir?
  • Has anyone had any experience with the DYN4 drives and its configuration with LinixCNC?
Thanks

I have firmware for a 7i96S+BOB setup.

PIN_7I96S_5ABOBRCD.vhd

With this firmware and MesaTool2 do I  select a P1 board type?  I don't see anything resembling a generic BOB.

Well I figured it out. It now converges in about 6 iterations. Maybe I just don't understand the notation from the paper, but that sure as hell doesn't look like its decrementing sBC and t2, it looks like its assigning. It was just a wild ass guess, but it was correct.

Changing from assignment to decrement:

From the paper:

Edit:
I asked ChatGPT: mathb.in/78746
I guess subtracting from the existing values is implied because that's whats normally done when doing this kind of operation with an inverse Jacobian.

I guess I spoke too soon. I'm getting an error on line 10 which is a a reference to G53 G0 Z0.
That line is obviously coming from F360.

I marked up the screen shot attached inline below.

Is the error coming from the G53? Note that I appear to be in G54 mode as the button is green highlighted.

When I replace the Jacobian matrix stuff with this, it converges very slowly. I have no idea why yet.
