Low budget plasma setup, what do I need?

A lack of real output bearings (or, in fact, a real output shaft) is definitely a concern with that 3D printed reducer.
Also, the video seems to suggest an awful lot of backlash.

On reflection, a 3D printed Harmonic reducer is a much more interesting idea...

I agree, will take a lot of trial and error modifying parts to that 6:1 reducer good.

Have you seen any harmonic reducers with 5:1 or 6:1 ? 3D printed that is?

No. I was thinking about 120:1 for robots.

Already been done, it seems.

freeby.mesanet.com/7i90_plasma.zip

Contains the correct bitfile (8 stepgens, 2 PWM gens and 2 "A" pin only encoders on I/O 0..23)

The one in the dist is broken, will fix tomorrow

Peter, can you help me and add code for one 7i37 as I need some inputs. That would be much appreciated.

Does the firmware have any smart-serial channels? That might be a more efficient way to add GPIO pins.

I see that you have the crossed-roller way and so are using that, but did you see the posts where I suggested that there are some guided pneumatic cylinders that look perfect for the job of being a lockable floating mount?

But that would need another board and I have the 7i37 already.

OK, yes it could work but again that would be something I´d have to buy = I will have to make do with what I have at hand.

There is no "code" for a 7I37, all I/O is just GPIO
The first 16 GPIO on a connector with a 7I37 are inputs
The last 8 GPIO on a connector with a 7I37 are outputs
and these 8 GPIO must be set to output mode
