Another small update,
I had some advice that the cast iron taper lock bushes I was going to use would be prone to shattering under the impact loads the tumbler will impose. So I replaced them with tempered steel bushes. Took a while for my local bearing shop to get my parts in but they seem to work well.
Once I had my new steel bushes installed I finished off the plates I was planing on tumbling a month ago.
All tumbled without any issues. Now to finalize the enclosure design. Also the VFD makes this a breeze. I would hate to try to do this with a normal on/off motor. The Jog function alone is worth the cost of the VFD let alone the speed control.

so what's the plan with outer frame? are looking to add sound dampening material to keep noise levels down? or protection to put the whole thing outside? or is this just to act as a guard to keep people safe i would imagine with employee's you need some kind of guarding in place to keep safety police happy.

Yeah I will sheet the frame and put it outside up the back of the yard. And yeah it has to be safe so I need to limit the area that is exposed to safety hazards. The plan is to tumble parts only when the door is closed.

probably need a safety interlock on the doors so the motor disables if the doors open up i would think too. safety concerns when you have employee's is probably going to take the build to higher safety standards.
