It would be nice if this better mousetrap was built in the same factory rather than being fragmented and stretching thin resources.

That kind of depends on how willing the current development team is to implement new features proposed by R&D as they come to hand. :side:

Yes as you know I have one in progress but its failing a test. Andy thought I should just submit it as is. But I've decided to send an email to the gatekeeper first

There is some real cool stuff here for plasma and then some. This is all in hal in real time
original feedrate, Arc radius, if the arc is a hole or not, kerf width and another 23 status bits I have not even dug through yet.
Plus Andy suggested that I include a directional heading that could be used to orient a tangential knife or saw blade. I can see a use for that too.

Anyway, I'm a bit worried about the dev team's response to some of R&D's future proposals. I just want Plasma to work without bothering about any special G code commands... or listening to complaints about more work....

This be my last OT comment on this thread, I think we have kinda destroyed it...

What would be nice while you are playing around with state tags are realtime equivalents of halui.program.is-idle, halui.program.is-paused and halui.program.is-running. This would enable the removal of a few kludges in the plasmac component related to the timing of these userspace pins.

I think that would be a separate project as I'm dealing with the interpreter here. I think halui is managed from task via messages. I have not been playing with that stuff yet.
