I have a brain fade.. re 7i96

On a Hypertherm 45xp the torch start wires are green and black the manual states dry contacts

I have connected them to hm2....ssr.......7i96....00 output this does not fire the torch.

Do I have to put 24V on pin 14+ and then connect green to pin 12- then black to gnd

No, what you had is correct, you are just closing a contact, and the SSR works (I just helped someone set their table up this way very recently). However, it is possible to get it backwards because the hypertherm is flowing electricity to complete the circuit and you probably aren't biasing the SSR correctly. Try reversing them from what you had.

The guy I helped used this diagram:

Edit: The 7i96 does light up when you activate the output. Make sure you have the address for the SSR correct. should be:
hm2_7i96.0.ssr.00.out-00

Always pays to trust nothing and test everything from the source with a multimeter. Saves a few hours of angst!

Chris has pushed a fix to Pncconf for the pid.n.maxerror issue.

Do main LinuxCNC updates come along with the recovery branch? I dont need this one, just was curious.

Yes, I like to keep my test branches (if any) as up to date as possible.

EDIT: Actually that may not be true. I bring my test branches up to date when I update PlasmaC. If there are other changes to 2.8 or master after that then they will not appear in my test branches.

What are your settings in the config panel.

What is THC doing or not doing, is it enabled in the run panel and the cut parameters?

Phill I am trying to do this remotely .

The THC is not adjusting the Z As you can see it is showing -59 when idle and about 140V when cutting

Looks to me like your offset and scale could be off. Which THCAD are you using? Can you post your 0v and max volt frequencies? Also, jumper setting on the THCAD? At least that way we could verify your settings.

THC-10 0v = 116.4 10v = 965.3 jumper 32 Plasma set at 20:1

I get this to be Scale 00753917 offset to be 3637.5
