I mostly read "junk" crime/detective books, mind numbing stuff that requires no thought processes at all.Phill: Reading anything good on the Kindle??
If anyone wants a good book recommendation, highly recommend "The Martian" by Andy Weir... even if you've seen the movie (which pales by comparison) it's still worth the read.

Yep, we use that for A axis, now you need to build five a axis table to find out which keys are best.4'th axis uses [ and ] for keyboard jogging, never had the 5'th to try !

Made this sticky, just wasted 4 minutes searching for it.
Trying to remember the book I recommended?

forum.linuxcnc.org/9-installing-linuxcnc...nd-easy-installation
and found out there is no need to install anything else, everything just works for 2.9/master version of LinuxCNC/QtPlasmaC!

-Linux Mint 19.3
-RT 4.9 kernel
-Master version of LinuxCNC
-Latest build from buildbot and all versions prior up to ... last 2 months ???

--Do not skip steps related to encoder ( choose Arc Voltage) and Z axis velocities as that will cause the issues mentioned below
-- Pncconf --
-creates a working config, for tandem axis also, just be sure to add limit/home switches
-does not add the 3 lines needed for THCAD encoder, filter, scale, mode > need to be added manually
-does not save the THCAD settings, scale and offset, have to be set again in GUI
-the plasmac.thc-feed-rate gets set to 0 !!! THC works properly but the Z axis correction is unusably slow, adjusting PID and any other setting related to THC in the GUI has no effect.
adding
setp plasmac.thc-feed-rate 500
-
There were some minor issues with Pncconf created config about a month ago that seem all fixed now.
Now back to cutting ... not much of it as the price of a 2X1m, 3mm thick plate of mild steel is over 60 Euro now, was 33 in January !
Expect more updates about 3D printing ... hmmm... plasma cutting! To much PLA and PETG fumes messing my brain !
Thank you all.

Did you select a Arc Voltage encoder from the Plasma Encoder menu?-does not add the 3 lines needed for THCAD encoder, filter, scale, mode > need to be added manually
See reply above, and if there is no qtplasmac.prefs file then if should create one with those entries .-does not save the THCAD settings, scale and offset, have to be set again in GUI
I'll check this out later today.-the plasmac.thc-feed-rate gets set to 0 !!! THC works properly but the Z axis correction is unusably slow, adjusting PID and any other setting related to THC in the GUI has no effect.
