Thanks guys . As soon as I can make that change ( hopefully this weekend ) I will. For now though I have to do storm prep. The weather fortcasters
are trying to send a tropical storm or possibly a hurricane into Tampa Florida.

So just to clarify the below picture will work with the 7i76 and 7i76e board with the W1 jumper in the Left hand position
Otherwise connect TB1 pin 8 to TB3 pin 23 if using separate power supplies with the W1 jumper in the Right hand position .
Correct?

edit: DO NOT connect 24 volts to a 7i76 TB3 pins 22 and 23 . It will damage the 7i76.

No, that will not work on a 7I76 . The 7I76 has only 5V power
on the logic section so if you connect 24V to anywhere on a
7I76 TB3 connector, you will damage the 7I76.

Thanks PCW . That saved an expensive mistake. TB3 pin 23 ground and TB1 pin 8 ground do still get tied together though correct?

Yes, if you want the field I/O common to be the same as the 7I76 logic section common.
This would be needed if you are using the 7I76's 5V to power a MPG connected to the
field I/O section.

Again Thank You PCW. I definitely wanted to get that answered before I go connecting things.
p.s.
After going back to the MESA 7i76e manual I can see why the above picture works for the 7i76e but not the
7i76. The 7i76e apparently has a Logic power regulator. The 7i76 does not. So yeah 24 volt to TB3 would
have been really bad.

Well I went ahead and ordered a 7i71 board so I can get back to getting the feeders controlled with Linuxcnc. I hope that makes
tommylight happy it wont be an Arduino. LOL . Looks like I will have to dive in the deep end on writing a hal. component and figure
what M code to use to trigger the feeders. My is throbbing already.

  My is throbbing already.

Your what ? :)

7i71 is very nice as it has led's for all 48 outputs, handy while setting up things.
HAL is nice, it really pays off the time it takes to learn it and opens up all kinds of possibilities, so you go from "how the hell do i do this" to " i can do this many ways ".

Well that was a whole lot of not much. I have gotten way worse weather during a summer squall then hurricane Elsa did. In my area anyway.
I.E. I way over prepped for it
