Those would be MAHO 400P models. Different beast to a MH400E. It would be a much bigger job to do a LinuxCNC conversion on one, as you need to get rid of that single axis motor and gearbox system, and drive the axis screws (are they even ballscrews?) from three separate servos.

So are you planning to retrofit them? Woul probably be cheaper to sell all five and buy a more modern machine.

Super-quick service from eusurplus.com and DHL Express, I got all my parts this morning and they were just shipped yesterday (from Portugal to Poland)!

I'm a little envious since I also ship a lot of my products in Europe but my parcels are much larger and the prices are higher for slower delivery. Such is life.

Here's a picture of everything I got, now I need to find some free time and actually read what these parts are and how to connect them to each other (and to the PC and the Maho). I was going by Mark's updated list of "what I would've done had I known better", but unlike him I still have absolutely no idea what I have here :)

My initial plans for the retrofit have gone awry somewhat. Usually in my small business there were week-long spells of absolutely nothing happening, leaving me free to plot and scheme, but since at least last month I'm constantly trailing behind trying to fulfil outstanding orders. Since the Maho is central to actually manufacturing my products, I might just have to post a "sorry, we're taking a break this week" and use that time for the retrofit. I'll find a way.

I already see I got the wrong break out board with the 7i74 instead of the 7i44 :)

I didn't notice the difference between the 7i44 and the 7i74 until now either. At least this is one of their cheapest cards. Maybe they will let you exchange it.

That is a 7i74 in the picture and that is the one you need with 5i25. 7i44 is for a 50 pin header.
You are all good to go. You need 2 parallel port cables and 2 RJ45 patch cables, straight, not crossover, a power supply depending on the signalling voltage you will need, usually 24V.

I _think_ that the Smart Serial cards will work with either straight or crossover cables.

Doesn't he need that DB25 connection on the 5i25 for the 7i77? The 5i25 has a second DIL26 pinhead, for connecting a 7i44.

Or will the 7i77 work if it you connect
7i77 through TB6-> 7i74 , then 7i74 --> 5i25 through the DB25 cable?

Alas, SSerial cards cannot have their RX/TX pairs swapped.
The interfaces are designed for straight through cables.

You might be confused Ethernet, our Ethernet cards will work with straight
through or crossover cables (this is a common Ethernet feature known as MDIX)
