Are you using the encoder input?
(that would be ideal since its 3 a differential capable inputs)
Other wise I would suggest adding a differential receiver
(say 26LS32) to the parallel expansion port

7 wires come from a 6 tool turret, 1 E-Stop, Home X and Z - 2 inputs, Alarm 1 input. In total 11 - all input are used + a spindle encoder.
The differentia receiver needs an other firmware to use the parallel expansion port?
But on the servo encoder output has an other output too, via optocoupler for Z index (if i understand correctly)

I do not know what input to use. One encoder will be on the spindle, so there are no free inputs left, only the P1Are you using the encoder input?

You could use the OCZ signals directly on P1
(if you are careful with wiring)
This would require custom firmware

What type of voltage can use the P1? (3.3v, or 5v; are they pull-up, or pull-down)
I think that I could directly use that optocoupler OCZ signal with 3.3v, 5v, or GND from the card. But I will test it.

Is it difficult to make a custom firmware for using homing with index on 7i96 (pwm on the 4th stepgen) and 7i96s cards for all axis - will be more universal? (may be for 5i25+7i76)You could use the OCZ signals directly on P1

The P1 I/O pins are TTL level with pullup resistors to 5V
The accept a maximum input voltage of +7V
and a minimum of -0.6V. They have TTL input thresholds
(~1.7V)
They are fairly easy to damage with negative inputs
without current limit (less than -0.6V will damage the
input clamp diodes)
How do you get a high current negative input? Its easy,
just connect a P1 pin to case ground in a electrically
noisy environment with HF noise from motor drives.
You can protect the I/O from this kind of
a hazard with a small series resistor (say 47 Ohms)
I can make some 7I96S firmware with this option when
I get a chance.

OCZ+ -> resistor ? Om (kOm) -> P1 pin
Is that correct?
What about the firmware?
Is there any tutorial video how to make it, with which software, and what pin to add to specific card to use only the index for homing?

Can you do that for the 7i96 (pwm on 4th stepgen) too? (at home i have this card, on the work we have 2 pcs. 7i96s for the lathe with a turret and servo drives)
It would be very helpful a sort example for signals and pin connections in the .hal file.

For the 7i96 (pwm on 4 stepgen) + index for homing will you post here, or in an other topic?
