I try to open it through a terminal command and I get permission denied. I figure it has something to do with trying with a bash command, how do I go around this. When open linuxcnc my configuration are not showing up either

Can you try again from a terminal and post the errors.

Is this a Buildbot or RIP installation?

You need linuxcnc and a space in front of that.


Edit: something like:
linuxcnc ~/linuxcnc/configs/azplasma/azplasma.ini

In this line:
net plasmac:float-switch hm2_7i96.0.gpio.004.in in => debounce.0.0.in
you have an extra "in"

"~" means users home directory
