With a variant of the DM542, I just connected step+ and step- to pul+ and pul- and the same for dir.
Thats all I've ever done on any stepper driver.
I don't know what you mean by single ended. I assume it involves common signals. There is no place for it in the mesa ecosystem. Leave that to the Mach and grbl afficiondos.

Well I am sorry Rod but you are completely wrong in my opinion there are plenty of drives that can't accept differential inputs.
From the manual:
STEP/DIR INTERFACE
The 7I76E provides five channels of step/dir interface with buffered 5V differential
signal pairs. Each differential pair consists of two complementary 5V outputs. The
differential signals allows reliable signal transmission in noisy environments and can
directly interface with RS-422 line receivers. Step motor drives with single ended inputs
connect to just one of the STEP and DIR signal outputs, that is either the STEP+/DIR+ or
STEP-/DIR- signals, with the unused signals left unconnected at the 7I76E. The input
common signal on drives with single ended inputs connects to the 7I76Es GND or 5VP
pins depending on the drive type.

This is mudding the water for this guy by you saying he does not need 5V

5v is confirmed. Between pin 1 to pin 6 reads 5v

OK you have 5V + on pin 6 on TB2 that's good

connect pin 6 Which is 5v+ to PUL+ and DIR+ on the drive

Connect pin 2 to PUL- on the drive
Connect pin 4 to DIR-

One more thing check the switches on the drive for a start (sw5 set to on sw6 off s7on s8on)this should set the drive to 800 pulses/rev

Just get one axis moving first this is for your X axis

Don't waffle just keep to the facts

One more thing DO NOT Connect any power to P3 (which is 5v power in)

I did this. There was no change in the motors behavior. It’s still not doing anything

Saying the above does not help !!!

Did you change the drive switches ?

Make a sketch again and show what you have done.

I did setup a config and tested this out for you.

I don’t know what else to say, I changed the wiring like you said. I’ll draw a picture up. Im not getting error messages, im not getting anything. I try test/tune and when I run them the numbers change but the motors don’t do anythingthe box that says new is my new wiring

i even used a new DM542T driver. It didn’t change the motors behavior. So the drivers aren’t shot
