In my video I refer to Norberts "My 7i76e connection sheet" That covers the connections. (As does the mesa manual)

You are still wiring as differential.  You need to wire it as single ended input like the link I posted.

Closely look at the driver wiring

You need 5v from the mesa card have you checked the jumpers on the card.?

That’s what I had previously. I’m not sure where to exactly get the 5v from. Not which jumper to change. I’ll read further and keep trying to see what jumper and where to get it from

does that diagram say to get the 5v from the driver?

No. You can't get 5v from the drivers you get it from the mesa card.

From the manual:
LOGIC SECTION POWER
The 7I76E can get its 5V Ethernet, encoder, step/dir and serial interface power from
connector P3 or the on card logic power regulator can be used with unregulated DC power
supplied to TB3. When the on card regulator is used, the maximum power available from
the encoder, serial, and 26 pin expansion connectors is 2A total. If isolation of field power
and logic power is not required, a common 8 to 32VDC power supply can be used for all
7I76E power.

Or TB2 on the card Please see page 14 of the manual
From the manual:
TB2 PIN SIGNAL
1 GND
2 STEP0-
3 STEP0+
4 DIR0-
5 DIR0+
6 +5V THIS IS 5 VOLTS

Do you have a meter if so measure pin 1 to pin 6 you should get 5V
Look at Rods vid time stamp 7 mins and 22mins
